he really fell off fast. hasn't played 140+ games in a season since 2018 and he's still under contract until 2030

he's obviously still a HOF'er even if he retired today, but it could be painful watching him play until his contract is up just so he can get paid

It's sad, similar to Griffey Jr, but probably even worse. For a while there it looked like he might be able to push towards 700+ homers, now barring a miracle, that is very unlikely

Trout makes Griffey look like Lou Gehrig.

I'd be shocked if Trout makes it to 500 HR. At this point, I'd almost be surprised to see him reach 400.

Time for Trout to switch to DH, he can’t play the field no longer.
I agree, but it's with the knowledge that he has the talent and tools to play the field, and fielding won't be the key driver of future injury risk for Trout. It's simply that Trout has to hit and run the bases, that can't be avoided, so he needs to give up fielding simply to reduce his wear and tear and exposure to risk.

His value is in his bat - giving up fielding isn't a big deal. He'll hate it, but the Angels need to force the issue and tell him he's never playing the field again, so he can either retire now or accept it.

Imagine being an Angels fan...

With Trout's career in the gutter now, he's one of the biggest What If's in the sport ever......you don't even have anything to show for it as a team/org. Zero playoff success in his era, just failure and pain. And there's no light at the end of the tunnell, just a barren wasteland......

Time for Trout to switch to DH, he can’t play the field no longer.

He'll probably get injured swinging and/or running the bases too. He's gonna have to do the Giancarlo stanton run @ 30% speed/effort with no sliding.

angels stuck with rendon until 2026 and trout until 2030.

schaunel, neto, rengifo and ward are solid bats in that lineup. it's too bad the money allocated to rendon and trout could have been spent on 2-3 more bats and a few pitchers.

once the angels are done with those 2 guys will ownership be afraid to sign free agents to long contracts?

He didn't fall off. He got f***ing injured.

This is as weak a post as the fella that thinks he would be healthy if he moved to a corner outfield spot.

yeah.....so he's fallen off

his best bet to stay healthy at this point is becoming a full time DH

I don't disagree that he should end being a DH. It's a shame more than anything. You look at the guy and he's built like a tank and has every attribute known to man. Yet he's constantly dinged up.

He will get to 500 HR but he should get to 800 in reality.
