I've warmed up to this deal significantly following the Hall trade. If Rielly is planned as a Zboril depth upgrade with Miller, it is not bad at all.

If he is expected to play 20+ with Carlo, I have a bad feeling about it.

Welcome either way....

Don't know too much about him but bottom line this helps with puck moving/transition and I'm assuming he will replace Zboril. Left side with Gryz Lauzon and Reilly is pretty decent

19 assists, the guy can move the puck and is decent defensively. I think this is a very savvy pickup.

How come?

Carlo can bail him out at times like he did for Krug

Krug brought an elite element that was worth having in our top 4 being covered by Carlo. Rielly is not someone who should truly be expected to do this - setting him up for failure. If he was truly so good Ottawa wouldn't have cut his ice time by 1:30 from last season to this season.

I think Rielly - Miller is what we are looking at, or should be, to be the most competitive team possible. Those 19 assists would be closer to 10 here I imagine, out of that no-defense division.

I mean it could be Lauzon Carlo or Zboril Carlo

but you run into lack of offensive output/current struggles

This is why I want a top 4 defenseman - whether Gryz plays with McAvoy or Carlo, the other needs a good, steady partner who has and can play 20+ minutes. At this point, acquiring Hall means there is no reason not to!

Are you asking for a rental?

Have to be mindful of the expansion draft

I dont know if that LD you are looking for is available

If they really wanted one(for cheap). Ghost could have been claimed for nothing

Reilly was brought in to mentor the younger kids. They have Chabot who's our version of McAvoy so he's obviously going to demand his minutes.

They have the kid from the Karlsson trade who they also obviously very much like. Despite this, Brannstrom is playing 3rd pair minutes at the moment.

He's not going to be a world beater here. But I think Sweeney brought him in to provide some of what Grz does and what Zboril lacks at the moment.
