Mika is one of my favorite players and he just scored another but one thing bothered me more than anything on his first one is how his haircut can impact his vision. I played defense in D2 with my buddy Phil that had a similar haircut as Mika. While I understand that the D and F positions are vastly different, both rely heavily on vision.

Phil was a right handed RD that would always pinch in and try the same forehand backhand move. It all looks great and still sometimes works even if your hair get in your face. He only had 8 goals that year which was impressive in our conference.

The following year Phil got a haircut, hair was still pretty long like peak Lundqvist but no risk of getting in his face while skating. He ended up scoring 16 goals that season while I bailed him out on the blue line. He told me every day to look at the results. Backhanders are adversely affected by long hair due to the necessary neck snap from the players to find the puck and push to the goal.

I am not saying that Mika is going to score 164 goals as he is on pace for but even if he gets the haircut and only captures 60% its still 98.

It was onside. Zibanejad didn't have the puck, it was over a foot in front of him
