I was worried about how Zibanejad and Panarin would coexist given both of their tendencies to play in that left circle but Zibanejad is actually better not in that spot.

Remember earlier in the year when Panarin moved to the right side when Mika came back from injury?

It was met with deserved criticism. However, in this game when the Caps started cheating Panarin hard we moved Panarin to that side which opened up Ziba. We didnt score. But man the flexibility to mess up with a teams defensive strategy by rotating the two is nice. Now imagine if Kaako or Kratsov can develop into a weapon on the opposite side.

The Caps announcers were saying how the Rangers power play looked like the Caps power play.

That first unit is just stupidly loaded. Strome is the only guy you can kind of sleep on when defending them, the other 4 are ruthless. Hopefully Kakko can take Strome’s spot there before too long and be dangerous.

I get the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix it" thing but he really should have never been taken off of PP1 to begin with.

But they have the top PP in the league since the new year. Can't really complain when that is the case.

The PP this year is the best I've seen on the Rangers since I started following in 2000. Maybe the Leetch PPs rival it.

This is something that got blamed on coaching for over 2 decades. Turns out having elite skill is the elixir.

Having players who can stickhandle out of tight spots, confidently control the puck at the blueline, and one time passes and shots is really it. The Rangers brute-forced their way to the top of the Conference in the early 2010s with a lunch pail attitude and elite goaltending. This window will be different.

When Kreider is out there, it may well be the best power play that I have seen 'round these parts since some guys named Messier, Graves, Leetch & Zubov were manning it

NHL Records

Some interesting Rangers personnel on 2 of the top 15 scoring powerplays of all time. Nary an Oiler team in sight, which is hard to believe.

Maybe I'm misremembering, because the rest of his game wasn't at the current level, but I'm pretty sure he's gotten way faster. And still is.

My Mika authentic got here Sunday after waiting almost two months for it. Since opening the package he has 8 goals in 3 games. I’m taking credit.
They say that mine will be shipped out 3/16. Not bad.

I wrote them and asked if they could sell me an "A" and "C" (looking ahead!) patch so I can sow either on if I want. I think the Rangers will offer the C to Kreider but just in case...

Because of how bad the Rangers were during their era, I feel Lindros and Fleury get underrated in terms of their accomplishments in New York.

Lindros was an absolute beast...until the inevitable concussion. Then he had to dial it back and was never the same. Fleury was also incredible until his vices got the best of him.

Typical early 2000's Rangers.

When the Rangers played the Oilers earlier this year right after the opening faceoff there was a race to a loose puck between McDavid and Zibanejad and Zibby beat him.

Dude is amazingly talented both physically and with the game IQ to match

All true. The 2014 was a bit transformative because it was so damn deep. But while Nash and St. Louis were once elite players, they were past it by the time they got here.

It is really exciting to see what this team can do moving forward with Zibanejad and Panarin in their primes. With Kakko coming into his own. With a very talented blue line and goaltending situation.

Almost ironically, the missing piece of this team is the lunch-pail attitude depth that defined those teams of the past.

How strong is that 2011 draft looking?

That's a pretty damn impressive top 10, lots of regulars coming out of the first two rounds, a high number of players reaching the NHL through the third round, and some impressive names through the 7th.

I mean seriously, it doesn't come out when people talk about some of the better drafts, but just take a look at these results:
