I'm not. The QBs weren't worth that type of asset. They're good, but not great prospects. Pickett and Willis were the cream of the crop and that just means the cream wasn't very creamy.

Right, there were 3 players that immediately jumped into my mind when they moved up.

Jameson was the first one given the context of the run on WRs starting. Jordan Davis was the second, and Kyle Hamilton was the third. Coincidentally, those were the next three picks in the draft.

I’m seeing some people playing pessimist and we could have held our ground and ended up with 2 of 3 of Dean, Cine, and Christian Watson. While this is obviously true from a birds eye view, we also can’t ignore that leaving with debatably the best Edge and best WR in the draft, which are arguably both top 5 talents with good health.

I was non-committal to any of the options at 2, and I do have doubts about Hutch’s translation to the NFL, but I do at least realize that Hutch has as good of a case to be the #1 prospect as anyone.

Hell, at 46, there is a very real possibility that a guy that people floated as taking at 34 is still going to be there.

Moving up to 12, I'm dumbfounded they didn't take a QB.
The fact they pulled that trade off for what they got back was a win in itself.

Awful trade by the Vikings. Jameson Williams will be really good, just sucks they don’t get immediate help.

They basically gave up the 34th pick to move up 20 spots in the first round and 20 spots from the third round to the second round. The value on that trade is actually crazy when usually moving up that far in the first costs future 1sts.

Lions have come away with 2 top 5 talents from this draft, one has injury risk though and both were at big positions of need

I am a Vikings fan, and I was optimistic about this GM, but how the heck did you go to Princeton and you think that was a smart trade?

And they could have drafted Hamilton at 12 and instead draft Cine at 32?

Not a good start man...

Oh also, you let a team in your division draft Jameson Williams?

I would not hate seeing the Lions take a flyer on Ridder if he's still there at 46.

I like him better than Pickett, honestly.
Lions have too many holes to bet on the biggest project QB in the draft. I don’t dislike Ridder, but I’d be pushing chips in on him in round 3 and no earlier.

If the assessment was that Malik Willis wasn’t worth a 1st, then Ridder isn’t worth a second.

Hopefully you non-Packers NFC North NFC fans enjoyed the Packers losing Davante and then not drafting a WR in the first round with either of their picks as much as I did.

I'll let you have this one because it's the closest you'll feel to rooting for a Super Bowl team.

Does anyone have a read on Josh Paschal?
Tough as nails is an understatement. Very strong, a lot of natural strength. NFL tight ends won't have fun blocking him due to the highly probable mismatch in power. He was the only 3 year captain in Wildcats history, and also beat melanoma while playing college ball. He leaves it all on the field, doesn't take plays off. Scores high on the intangible chart. Definitely the kind of player who will bite off a few knee caps.

So far the draft seems very successful for the Lions. I wonder how Campbell does in his second year, and how short a leash he gives to the new OC.

I've learned not to draw too many conclusions on draft day, but at first pass I feel pretty damn good about the Lions' work.

Hutch and Jamo I think can be real difference makers at key positions. Sure Hutch isn't the most explosive guy around, but he's a great athlete, a smart player, and a big-time leader. Maybe not the sexiest #2 overall imaginable but I think the Lions definitely got on base here. WRs named Williams still kind of scare me, but I like that we got aggressive with Jamo. I think he's a killer player and we can certainly wait out his recovery. He and Amon-Ra give us a couple nice young weapons at a key position, and Chark is only 25 as well. Couple that with a strong line, some good RBs, and Hockenson - the offense is starting to really take shape here.

The rest of the crop I obviously don't know a ton about, but they strike me as good profiles at important positions. Linebackers and secondary will still be thin this year, but you can't fill every hole at once (and Quintricia left a lot of holes to fill).

It seems like we're paying a bit of a premium for character/leadership, which can be dangerous, but I kinda love it for this Lions build. You've got to overcome decades of losing culture and a pretty deeply-ingrained "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" mindset. You need some dawgs to get over those hurdles.

Curious to see which CFB QBs reveal themselves beyond Young and Stroud this year, as I feel like we'll be pretty well-positioned to package assets to go and get our guy next draft.

I dont get how people knock Hutchinson so much, he was pretty much universally the top prospect in the draft. But even the peiple who feel he was just a safe pick, I like how they made the "safe" pick and followed it up with the homerun swing. Outside of Hutchinson and Jamo I didnt know much about these guys (except Joseph) before the draft, but those 2 are major players and top 5 talents in the draft. No injury and Jamo goes top 5, maybe top 3.

With Williams missing time to start the year as well, it can help the tank for a QB next year. Another draft going defense after a QB next year and they should be really solid. The offense doesnt really have a single question mark except at QB

Ok, so for you guys following the Lions more closely than I (probably all of you), what's the outlook for the future of the QB position? Last I saw, the Alabama and OSU QBs are projected to go 1-2 in next year's draft. Is that still how it's looking? Is the expectation that the Lions will be a bottom-2 team again and snag one of those guys? Or are there other good QB's lower in that draft class that still have more promise than Goff?
