No, you misread what I said. I don't care about them at all. Not now, not end of the year. I have one hope every year. That EMU gets to a bowl game and EMU wins that bowl game.

Step 1: Complete.
Step 2: In progress.
C'mon now. Nothing wrong with pulling for Eastern, but be honest. If Saturday would have gone better for UM, you'd be a lot more interested in those rankings. (Even if the list tends to be more sizzle than steak.)

no, I actually do care more about EMU making a bowl game than anything Michigan until Ohio State week. Because I am very aware that the playoff rankings are total bunk. Michigan in 2016 was dead center and kicking ass. Then they lost in a damn shame at Kinnick at night so they fell completely out. And the whole thing was “you beat OSU and you’re in”

EMU making a bowl is first for me. EMU winning a bowl is second. Then, I’ll worry about Michigan’s rankkng

As evidenced by the fact I've never gone to a Michigan bowl game and I've gone to two EMU bowl games. (Because we made it in 1987 when I was three and then 2016, 18, 19)

f***ing Tyler Bass who's kicking for the Bills now... That asshole seemed like he could kick a 70 yard FG if you put him up to it.

Also... I'd be more interested in these rankings instead of just tossing them out in the trash if the AP #2 team wasn't on the outside looking in for two different schools that have a not fantastic loss.

Oregon lost to Stanford and looked pretty underwhelming in other wins.
Alabama lost to A&M (who is high now because they beat Bama) and really did not look fantastic against Tennessee until they got a bunch of garbage time points because Tennessee started grasping at straws (to hope for winning. It's the same reason I don't respect OSU's 3 score win over Tulsa, Michigan State's 3 score win over Miami, or Auburn's 10 point win over Georgia State. You get a pick six to clinch it or a pick six and then another interception off a desperation heave?

Georgia belongs at 1, full stop.
Cincinnati at 2, full stop. Maybe you could put MSU there for beating Michigan.
Whoever of MSU/Cincy wasn't 2 should be 3.
Then take pick of Oklahoma (no losses, but not impressive), Ohio State (only loss to Oregon), Oregon (because the victory over OSU), and THEN you can talk about Alabama. It's disgusting because any other team loses like Bama did to unranked A&M, they're out of the top 10. But Bama dropped like three spots.

I'm sure Saban is tossing and turning at night thinking about how they will beat the 4-4 LSU team with losses to UCLA, Auburn, Kentucky, and Ole Miss.

The fact of the matter is that Cincy needs a lot of help to get into the playoffs. They need Georgia to run the table and beat Alabama. They need Ohio State to beat Michigan State, Michigan, take the Big 10 championship, and probably need Penn State to pull an upset on Michigan State. They need Oklahoma to fall on the sword as well.

If all of those things play out, you figure Bama is out as a 2 loss team without a conference championship. MSU is out as a two loss team, OSU jumps up and claims one of those spots, Oregon holds steady, and the last spot would be up to Oklahoma and Cincinatti. If Oklahoma drops one, it makes it more feasible for Cincy to get in.

In other words, Cincy won't make the playoffs.

Maybe he should be after losing to then unranked A&M and barely squeaking by a very mediocre Florida team (that LSU beat). Bama can be had and I never dismiss an arch-rival.

I will agree Cincy won't make it and I don't think they should if things remain relatively the same. They're a better version of the UCF team that was whining for a playoff spot. Honestly I'd expect Michigan to beat them by a td right now.

I don't understand why Cincy is even in contention to be honest. Is it because Fickel is their coach? They beat a perennially overrated ND, but I just don't see them being that much different than someone like Fresno St, another mid major, but whom beat UCLA and hung in there with Oregon in Eugene.

But I don't get the rankings this year, lots of voters really trying to make some teams a thing...'member UNC being like #10 at the start? The Big Ten if they do squeak into the CFP is going to exposed so hard, voters really trying to make Iowa, PSU, tOSU, MSU, UM a thing, and I just struggle to see any of them as great teams now that conference play is trashing records.

But on one of the CFB threads on the football board, I said that I'm on Team Chaos...maybe I'll root for Ferris St in DII action, GLIAC football represent.

They're 8-0 and have a win over #10 ND. They've been repeatedly pretty damn good in the last few years. They're not Ball State pulling out a miracle undefeated run to the MAC championship to lose it there and never approach that again. Also... You not seeing a difference between Cincinnati who hasn't lost yet and Fresno State who's lost twice is you being blind.

Cincinnati has had one game within one score. 27-20 over Navy. They beat Notre Dame AT Notre Dame by 11.

Fresno State has had 5 one score games. To their credit, their two losses are part of those five. Fresno is playing the Mountain West teams like Wyoming, Nevada, and others and it's dogfights all the way down.

Cincinnati is playing an AAC schedule and is jack-hammering most teams.

Also... there is quite literally only one ultra impressive team in college football this year. That's Georgia. Pretty much every single other team you can point to an Achilles heel or has put up a stinker.

My only issue is that Alabama and Oregon have no claim to be in the top 4 over Cincinnati... and I probably would have kept Oklahoma there too, even though they've had some real stinkers that they pulled out. 8-0 in the Big 12 is 8-0 in the Big 12.

Georgia
Michigan State
Cincinnati
Oklahoma

I could definitely live with this.

Want Oregon or Ohio State or Alabama in that fourth spot over Oklahoma because of awful games vs. Texas, Tulane, and Kansas? Can't fight you on that, I suppose. I'd go Oregon because they do have H2H over Ohio State. Alabama can go rot for all I care. They're gonna play in the SEC title game. And if they beat Georgia, they're in. If they lose to Georgia, they're probably out. Give someone else a chance in the sun and to bask in being ranked up there. The rankings are all bullshit anyway.

Anyone listen to the Detroit Lions Podcast? It's a weekly listen during the Lions season for me. Right now they are doing their 24 hour fundraiser for St. Jude. Dan Miller was on earlier talking Lions and even a bit about Seider and Raymond. Rolling until 9 AM ET 11/6. Guests slated for today include Herman Moore and Wayne Fontes. Worth a listen if you have time to check in.

I really don’t have a side in the rivalry. I’m one of the weird ones that will cheer for both teams the entire season.

So I say this with true disgust. What the f*** is this performance by the Spartans. This is beyond unacceptable to follow up last week with this.

Yeah, that is pretty weird to cheer for both teams. I'm all in for UM against tOSU but that's about it.

Purdue was very good and MSU was pretty dodgy. The refreshing thing is MSU will not blame this loss (or all critical losses for the next 7 years) on the refs.

West Lafayette...where B1g and national aspirations go to die.

Eww, I could never root for the Spartans and Wolverines...that sounds like a terrible participation trophy. The only time I will mildly root for UM, is against ND, and in the Rose Bowl, because screw the Pac 10/12.

As for Spartans hockey, I don't know where they're going...sort of like aimless drift wood since Comley retired. And I don't mind Danton Cole, he kept Huntsville a thing for a while, but the rest of the Big Ten isn't standing pat, and Mel won't quit.

Pistons coming to Phoenix on 12/2. Will be looking into a schedule adjustment at work to accommodate. Tickets are cheap on the secondary market. $11 for the upper bowl. Last time I went a Suns game Aaron Rodgers was there for some reason. I enjoyed booing him. Last Pistons game I went to was at the Palace in '95 or '96.
