We’re behind the 8-ball now. Back to being the underdogs. Please save us, Dan Campbell.

Matrix meme - Not like this..
Damn that’s rough. I think that scene traumatized me when I saw it in theaters. *shiver*

For a team that’s been bad in the 3rd quarter, consistently, all season, it sucks to see them have their worst 3rd quarter yet. Had hoped they could break even, but that didn’t happen. Ugh.

Going for it on 4th instead of taking the FG to go up 3 possessions again was the mistake. Aggressive good, too aggressive bad.

what I don't get is why Campbell went for that field goal at the end of the first half if he was gonna be so aggressive the rest of the game

Yep. This game was painful, but the season as a whole was just an amazingly fun ride. This team is exciting, and maybe they can find another gear in the future. Go Lions!

that Holmes guy is clearly really good at finding talent in the draft and most of the teams best players are in like their 1st 2nd or 3rd year in the league

top 10 first round picks have helped a lot there but there's been a ton of good players drafted beyond the 1st round too

it was a hell of a ride. Was it our last shot for the next 60 years? Who knows. I'm grateful for this season.

49ers had all the luck today. We had some mistakes (Reynolds, Gibbs fumble, INT-Recovery Ayuk, 4th down handling) and made the 49ers strong in the second half. It wasn't meant to be for the Lions. Bitter loss.

But overall I'm very grateful for this season.

I find it hilarious that actual Lions fans are handling this better than the Football board on this website

The fact this team even got this far is crazy.

it was a pretty crazy choke/comeback to be fair so there's always gonna be a drama angle to that, IIRC I saw some stat thrown around like teams in conference championship games being 18-0 when leading by 17 points or more or something like that

other than that though people generally want to see flashes out of inexperienced teams in Playoff runs failing wins and even disregarding any other games that first half was a hell of a flash

Imagine having the lead and losing to the 49ers by 3 points.

Hell of a season, guys. Remember when I said the Lions have to prove they are on top of the NFC North? They did.

Looking forward to a dogfight next year from them, too.

I suppose it helps that I've had lower expectations for the Lions all year.

This defense, while improved, is pretty much the same roster as last year. It certainly needs some work that couldn't be solved at the trade deadline. Offense has struggled in the third quarter all year and were pretty much shutdown in the second half by one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Some will call it a choke but I would put that label on Baltimore in the AFC Championship game. Lions lost to a better team. Top to bottom.

normally i would agree with you. Theoretically the 49ers have got a better team. But in this game, I felt that the lions were the better team. We should've won that game. But the 49ers got some help from us (Fumble, Reynold drops, 4th down handling, missed tackles) and some lucky bounces (INT-recovery ayuk). They played at home too and thats too much.

Bottom line: It was a great ride and the lions exceeded my expectations by far. Was this our last shot for the next 60 years? Who knows. I'm just grateful for this season.

This is hopefully the first of good seasons to come for the Lions. Campbell can improve his game management skills some (like aggressive but sometimes he gets a little to wrapped up in it), need a better secondary, and probably need another pass rusher.

With that said though, it is a really solid offense. Goff looked solid in big games. Hutch is legit and if we can get some of those double teams off him he'll be borderline unstoppable. JW and Ghibbs are going to continue to develop, and DC is as inspiring of a coach as there is in this day and age.

It was a really tough loss, but they have the pieces to get back. Holmes just needs to continue the build.

What a fun season. I'm sad we aren't going to the Superbowl, but I am glad to finally get some playoff wins and watch a fun team. I'll take that any year. Thanks MC/DC and the Lions. Time to watch the trainwreck that will the Tigers for the 10th straight year.
