I don't think you have an awful take. But I question just how well he would be positioned to develop further with another year at Michigan.

It's not that he couldn't use the reps, but the type of reps he would get. I don't see UM overhauling a run-based offense to suddenly have JJ fling it 40+ times a game, or to otherwise become the focal point of the attack.

Even with another year, how much do you think he could grow in the offense Michigan uses? And more importantly, how much of that would be helpful to him when he turns pro?
I'm not saying it would be a slam-dunk pathway for McCarthy, but I don't think he's ready for the NFL, so another year of college-based development should help at least a little, even in a run-based offense. The reality is the departure of Corum is going to leave a huge hole in the run game, and that's going to have to be partially filled by more passing. He still needs work on his accuracy and stretching the field. In a run-based offense, the latter may be tricky to do, but the former should be accomplished simply with reps. He'd also benefit from adding more weight.

The Tigers are going beyond tanking.

Eh, I think it’s dumb to go to arb over 25k but they’re probably looking at it like “we paid for you to rehab. And you provided no value”

It’s a principle of the thing for Scottie Harris, I guess.

It's also a message to all baseball players "You don't want to play for the Tigers".

then they don't want to play anywhere

basically every MLB team operates this way with arbitration and would prefer to allow these things to go to a hearing than to negotiate on a 1 year deal

Oh, I agreed that it is dumb. I was just saying it's not about the 25k. It's about the "we don't think you deserve a raise for rehabbing an injury."

And this is likely true as well. Most of the time the arbitration stuff doesn't even actually go to a hearing. They put their numbers out on both sides and sign something before they sit with arb guy.

McCarthy has declared for the draft. It's the correct decision. His stock will not get higher (barring a Michigan repeat). This is the best financial decision and gaps in his game can still be addressed in NFL.

@Bench , whatever you did during that first half, do it again. This is hilarious.

Well this has been a very entertaining game. Amon-Ra was 100% right about the Packers.

Excited as hell to watch the Stafford vs Goff duel now.

I'm actually rooting for the Lions because I love you guys even if you'll become as insufferable as a fan with 3 franchise QBs in a row.

That loss could not have happened to a nicer (football) franchise.

If they play their game, it's an amazing opportunity in front of them.

Terrible false start call. Announcers even stating it was a bad call. Refs already f***ing over Detroit.

Lions with the lead at half.
I understand that everybody makes mistakes. What I don't understand is why there's ANYTHING in any sport that cannot be challenged. Use the booth to get it right, and then everybody moves forward with no hard feelings.

Absolutely. I mean, that was a completely blown call in a dead ball situation. The Rams f***ed up and should have given up the first down.

I get that it is hard to/impossible to review in motion plays because you don’t know where a guy would have slowed down when he could have made a play if you didn’t blow the whistle wrong. But that was a dead ball call. There is absolutely no reason for a play like that to stand.

The first month of 2024 has been one of the best in the past two decades.

I had convinced myself I’d never see a Michigan national championship ever again… they win.

I was Sisyphus with the Lions, they’d never win a playoff game… first one since I was 7 years old.

Man, I just simply don’t know what to do with my hands and heart.
