I just wanna see him bring it in the playoffs. Get under people's skin, use his speed and tenacity and create chances. Hes a beauty.

Bunting is playing like a 6 million dollar player. He is already more valuble to this team over Nylander. I trust Bunting and know he will compete the same way in the playoffs. He has an excellent compete level.

Yup, to anyone paying attention it was a perfect fit. Unfortunately our resident Mod was mocking anyone who believed this “AHL signing” would be an effective top 6 player.
Tempering expectations is always good. If he was a slam dunk he would have got more than 900k or whatever.

Not sure you should be hammering anyone for a bad opinion, you’ve literally been called out for flat out lying about black and white facts (that or you were ignorant and still debating with what you pulled out your ass)

Love people mocking Mess for specific details when the big picture has been exactly as he and so many have said it would… yet you and others find a small victory somewhere and will beat your chest with 3 years of egg dripping off your face!

If Bunting outright leads all rookies by 8-10 points, do you give him the calder?

It'll be super interesting to see the calder narrative as the season winds down.

Tempering expectations is saying “let’s see how he performs before we get excited” not criticizing management for believing an “AHL player signed to league minimum” can be an effective solution in our top 6.

Also, I’d love to hear more about the bolded?

As for Mess, have fun defending the guy who believed Kase was signed to be LTIRetired for extra cap space.

thats a horrible take. William can drive a line, bunting on his own cannot. I love bunting, but lets not forget who really showed up when it mattered the most.

Has turned out great, kids a beauty.
Imagine had Ritchie worked out even moderately. It would have been a totally different season for Bunting if that were to have happened.

His Agent must be kicking himself for agreeing to such a steal of a contract.

It's been quite a story but to me a rookie is a lot younger. I don't feel Bunting should be eligible for the Calder.

Bunting unlike Hey-Man is smart and understands how to compliment our 2 elite players . He doesn't blow the zone early or be the last man back like Hey-Man and he's much better positionally as well .

Bunting isn't flashy but he knows where to go to become an option or find a loose puck and not clog the ice especially in front of the net like Hey-Man did

the team took a no risk flyer on the kid and while it's hard to expect much out of player with his resume good on him for his stellar play and it's been a great addition so far

i have to say it still gives me a laugh about how some were saying how important and difficult Hey-Man would be to replace , lol

If you look at Matthews goal last night where marner chipped the puck up to bunting that took skill to corral the puck then get it to ma tthews. Yes he is playing with arguable the top two players in the league but the kid has skill, grit determination and the hockey IQ to contribute to the success of the line

Can someone answer this. If Bunting wins the Calder, does he get some kind of bonus that would result in him being a much higher caphit?

Bunting won't since he's on a standard (non entry level) contract.

Basically it needs to be an ELC and a clause within that ELC to increase thr salary.

I agree. But I also understand the pessimism and complete lack of confidence in this administration's decision making. They've made some incredibly stupid decisions in a remarkably short period of time and now seem poised to start hemorrhaging even more assets to try and fix the problems either directly or indirectly created by prior mistakes. This doesn't inspire confidence. Theres too many moving parts in an organization to possibly be right about everyone but the general direction has been pretty clear for Mess and so many others.

The bolded - most recently, the conversation about qualifications and credentials of the top decision maker and how different they are for someone who took the stairs and cleared every floor on their way to the top vs a guy who got the elevator key from his Grandfather. You claimed the prior never played the game when this is so wildly incorrect that you were either intentionally misleading or debating something you knew nothing about. Either way, its pretty damning. I wasn't in on the conversation but quoted you with a picture of this person wearing the C on his D1 NCAA team. Maybe you didn't see it? Probably just a coincidence you disappeared from the thread. Since you didn't respond I'd encourage you to take 2 minutes on Wiki to inform yourself on what I mean when I say took the stairs and cleared every floor.

I question why so many need to mislead or misrepresent to defend Kyle Dubas. If we're being honest, what does that say about yours and their argument?

I'm not defending anyone. I don't always agree with anyone, never mind a stranger on the internet. I respect Mess for taking time to make thoughtful and mostly well-researched contributions here. I was calling you out for beating your chest over a small victory still with 3 years worth of egg on your face.

You gotta love the residual effects Buntings play is having around the league. For example, he is only doing well because Leafs are a good team he wouldn't do that well on a bad team. He is only doing well because he plays with Marner and Mathews two of the best players in the league. etc..

As I say you just have to love it.
