I'd argue you can't just throw anyone on that line, aka Thornton and whatever scrubs they have tried up there. I don't recall them trying Boyd or Amadio up there either. So he's proven to at the minimum be a better fit up there, or maybe better than those other scrubs.

Buntings game is very transferable to NHL style that all teams love, where he hits, bites, scratches and does whatever it takes to get involved and goes hard to the net and willing to play in heavy traffic and stand in the blue paint.

His hard work and effort is being rewarded statistically and he is a good fit in the top 6 because he fits well stylistically with high-end skilled players as the player willing to do the dirty work it takes.

At $950k he is a low cost player that is a low risk player in the line-up.

I can’t wait for other fanbases to implode when Bunting wins the Calder

Micheal Bunting is Keanu Reeves..

Bunting's status as a "rookie" is just him dodging the qualifications Matrix-style.

- Over 25 games in a year, not a rookie (he played 21).
- Six games in consecutive years, not a rookie (played 5 the year prior).
- Turn 26 years old before Sept. 15th, not a rookie(turned 26 on Sept.17th).

Now do Ritchie and Mrazek, Kyle.

As much as I really liked Hyman, I'm so far liking Bunting even more. Leafs haven't had a good Marchand like pest with some offensive skills since perhaps Darcy Tucker and now Bunting is that guy and its great to see a local guy succeed and I hope he gets even better. :)

Also for the price of Hyman, we were able to sign Kampf, Kase and Bunting and still have some money left over so as much as it sucked to see Hyman walk for nothing, it was the right decision for sure.

Hyman who?

Bunting is a Gem! Looking like a legit top 6 forward. Can’t believe Dubas got him signed for next season as well.

Well done Kyle!

Reminds me of Kadri a bit with his ability to draw penalties and get under other team's skin.
Naz is also 1 point off the league lead this year  Tied with McDavid. I do agree that Bunting has a similar game, though. Naz is decently more skilled, but they have plenty in common.

Bunting is an absolute beauty at this price. He should switch contracts with Ritchie!

Imagine what we could have added for Reilly dollars.
