I'd argue you can't just throw anyone on that line, aka Thornton and whatever scrubs they have tried up there. I don't recall them trying Boyd or Amadio up there either. So he's proven to at the minimum be a better fit up there, or maybe better than those other scrubs.
I can’t wait for other fanbases to implode when Bunting wins the CalderBuntings game is very transferable to NHL style that all teams love, where he hits, bites, scratches and does whatever it takes to get involved and goes hard to the net and willing to play in heavy traffic and stand in the blue paint.
His hard work and effort is being rewarded statistically and he is a good fit in the top 6 because he fits well stylistically with high-end skilled players as the player willing to do the dirty work it takes.
At $950k he is a low cost player that is a low risk player in the line-up.

Tough lookSo ridiculous to project anything significant for this player. If he turns out to be worth a regular shift in the bottom 6, that would be a fantastic outcome.
Now do Ritchie and Mrazek, Kyle.
Perfectly stated ….GLGAs much as I really liked Hyman, I'm so far liking Bunting even more. Leafs haven't had a good Marchand like pest with some offensive skills since perhaps Darcy Tucker and now Bunting is that guy and its great to see a local guy succeed and I hope he gets even better.
Also for the price of Hyman, we were able to sign Kampf, Kase and Bunting and still have some money left over so as much as it sucked to see Hyman walk for nothing, it was the right decision for sure.
Naz is also 1 point off the league lead this yearReminds me of Kadri a bit with his ability to draw penalties and get under other team's skin.
Bunting for Calder!!!!![]()

Andy Bathgate?Imagine what we could have added for Reilly dollars.
I know your joking but I was pleasantly surprised to see Rielly has 38 points in 42... he really is able to stay under the radar well. Especially given he is the best defenseman on the Toronto Maple Leafs.Imagine what we could have added for Reilly dollars.

Tied with mcdavid for the most penalties drawn in the leagueSomeone who draws penalties (among his other abilities) is re-freshing!
