I don't see why everyone is jumping on NJ, they can't seem to stay healthy even in to offseason.
Haven't even played a preseason game and both Nemec and Luke Hughes are hurt.

The top dogs

1. RANGERS - A complete, deep team that is perfect for regular season.
2. DEVILS - Another deep team that will benefit from the coaching change.
3. CANES - Best of the rest. Brindy remains a major asset.

The middle of the pack fighting for scraps

4. PENGUINS - Somehow, they'll manage.
5. ISLES - Some nice pieces but they need a new vision.
6. FLYERS - They should be in the playoffs race until late in the season but I don't see it happening.

The lottery squad

7. JACKETS - They've lost their two best forwards and replaced their idiotic GM with another idiot. But I expect the players to stick together.
8. CAPS - LOL. Garbage team "led" by a me-first captain who is completely cooked.
The same guy that had 22 goals in 35 games the last 3 months of the season? That's above a 50 goal pace over 82 games. He had more goals than Cole Caufield who is 15 years younger and willed the Capitals into a playoff spot. Worry about your own teams problems.

Quite strange for people to predict the Caps being one of the worst teams in the division after they dramatically improved the team that managed to sneak into play offs

Not really. It was a team that made the playoffs with a -37GD, which is a freak thing we may not see again in this wild card format.
And a lot of what they've earned this year is not about the new acquisitions, but rather players who were there last year who are playing way better this year.
Strome, Ovi, McMichael, Protas, Sandin, Wilson, etc... All notably to significantly improved.

Plus there's a lot of very high shooting percentages going on atm.
