In order to be a champion, you have to act like a champion. Win or lose, the 2014 Kings are an example of such. Through this amazing run, I've witnessed true resilience, character, selflessness and brotherhood.
For example, even down 0-3 to the feeble sharks, not one King, from Sutter on down, complained about "puck luck," poor officiating, etc.
In fact, I don't recall Sutter or King players ever complaining about some injustice- EVER.
The SCF has brought out the true colors of the NY Rangers. IMO, they just don't have the intangibles to be a Stanley Cup Champion.
Lundqvist is a good goaltender, but If I want a Stanley cup CHAMPION goaltender, I'd want Jonathan Quick. Sure, he's had some poor performances throughout this playoff, but damn, he's made some incredible saves at the right time to keep us in games. More than likely, after 2014, it will be Quick 2 and Lundqvist 0. Who's 1 and 1A now?
Alain Vigneault- all I can say is that leadership comes from the top down. When you sound defeated, what kind of attitude do you think your team will embrace? Plus, his in-game adjustments don't compare to Sutter's. I can understand why his Canucks never won the dance.
Enough of this winded talk, if any of you want examples of mental weakness, just check out the following videos. They all have a similar bent to them. Feel free to add to the list.
Rangers- crybabies
Henrik "The King" Lundqvist- Game 2. "I'm extremely disappointed on that call... or non call."
Dan Boyle- losing it
Mike Smith- unhinged, chopping at the back of brown's knees
Cryotes- after game 5 in 2012
Shane Moan- "I still haven't found where I get my 3 penalties"
Mike smith- "we got beat by the officials"
