Remembering the nickname "Floppa" got me thinking. What are some of the cleverest and most cruel nicknames in nhl history?
 
Steve Buzinski, aka "The Puck Goes-inski".

Career stat line of 2-6-1 and a GAA of around 6.00. In the span of four games, he allowed 33 goals.
 
Wiki's got a pretty lengthy page on "Hockey Nicknames".
Not so sure Mike Walton liked being called "Shaky".
Not a guy with a real big sense of humor...

I cant think of anything really "mean spirited", however, Imlachs
deliberate corruption's of Frank Mahovlichs' surname certainly
was; "Maholovitz, Macholovick, err.. Frank". Just ta get him riled...

I love the "Red Light". Also for Jose Theodore there is Jose Three-or-four. Not as good as Three-or-more but still decent.

E: Just remembered Chris Not-so-good and Osbad.

lots of goalies here, easy to make fun of perhaps

i have to throw in colorado rockies goalie hardy 'the swedish sieve' åström

even his own coach called him that

it was don cherry though
 
While it never really caught on, some fans started calling Patrick Kane "20 Cent" after his arrest.

There was a goalie with Chicago in the mid-80s named Warren Skorodenski who would often be referred to as "Score-against-me".

I wouldn't call that mean-spirited, more a compliment towards an intense player who played bigger than his size. You could have given that name to Theo Fleury or Darcy Tucker and it would have meant the same.

I remember it mostly as "Cashin' Yashin'. And in my opinion he deserved every bit of it.

Alfredsson was constantly called "Krusty" with his one-time shag haircut.

Steve "Stumpy" Thomas is a nickname I have never wanted to even know where it came from

Hmmm..........not mean, but is "Lucky Luc" really a compliment for Robitaille? I mean in all honesty he was known for being the player who was right there time and time again after the goalie made a big save and was wildly out of position only to have the puck float to Robitaille's stick. But I think I'd get sick of it eventually

John "Pieface" McKenzie

Claude "Pepe" Lemieux. Not sure if being named after a skunk is something to be proud of, but then again its only Claude so don't feel too bad
