So i am guessing with the addition of gomez, Mclaren was surplus to requirements.

I like that sheppard will be hanging around, I am not expecting really anything from him this year, his development will be slower than most his age, but thats okay.

good luck to Mclaren in woosta!

Not that he was useful in Woosta, but I'm glad he going back there to maybe have a chance to help.

I doubt this means Demers is ready to play, btw.

6 points in 23 games in 09-10 for an enforcer... hmmm. I'd take on that project if I were a GM.

With both Mashinter and McLaren gone, who plays the role of the enforcer? Or is that a role of the past?

In San Jose, I hope that's a role of the past. There's no use for a player who's only NHL skill is fighting.

Clowe can fight, Burish can fight, Murray can fight, and maybe even Desjardin. No loss.

thornton can fight, marleau can fight, boyle can even fight.

i would personally rather see those guys fight then the idiots that call them selves heavy weights.

I knew he would get claimed by an eastern conference team. There are no enforcers to fight over in the west, so it's pointless to have a guy like McLaren here.

Those first two years at the Cow Palace, as I was learning more about the game, I came to appreciate what players such as Coxe and Gaetz were. Link became one of the biggest reasons for me to drive all the way there!!
I can't even imagine a player of his ilk playing in the NHL now.

In Worcester there's Pelech.

With McLaren getting claimed, I'm wondering if that changes DW's opinion on the Petrecki situation. Might not want to risk some team claiming him.

If that's the case then when/if Burns comes back and they need to make room, Irwin will be the one sent down because I believe he's the only one who doesn't need to go through waivers.

Which isn't great either since you're wasting Petrecki's development by just sitting him in the press-box the entire season. San Jose practices don't replace the valuable ice-time he could be getting in Worcester.
Quite the dilemma.

I will be shocked if Petrecki doesn't clear waivers. He's not yet an NHL caliber defenseman so any team claiming him will be forced to keep a roster player around that can't help them right now. At least McLaren can be used as a fighter....
