Oh boy and now the good mood of all for getting rid of RJ is likely gone.

I don't mind it. Sure, he's not great, but he kept this team in it last season in a couple of crucial periods of the season. That's worth something, even if he does give up some bad rebounds.

Agreed. He's not a top tier backup goalie, but he's (probably) on a good deal and if he can play how he did last year he's worth the money.

:dunno: I would have liked a better back-up. he did okay last year but he needs to be better next season. Here's hoping Bob stays real healthy and is in real good shape with those 19 back-to-backs.

I might have preferred we explore other options but good for CMac. He earned it with his play when Bob went down.

I like McBackup, glad he got this deal. I really appreciate his ability to ride the pine for large stretches and still be able to jump right into the game when needed and not look horrifically rusty.

He was 10-11-1 with a 2.70 GAA and a .909 save %. Not exactly super and not worth a whole lot more than what he made last year.

Would have preferred to wait till July 1st to see what the market is offering us. However, McBackup is a serviceable backup goaltender and did have a few good games where he kept us in it. However, it may be even a good idea to keep a good AHL goalie around in case we lose faith in McBackup and need a temporary back up who can do the job.

While no all-star, I think CMac is underrated on these boards. He did what was asked of him last year.

There's no question, the Jackets are tied heavily to Bob. The fact that Bob, CMac and Clarke seem to have a good working relationship together makes me fine with maintaining status quo at the tender position this year.

Welcome back, C-Mac.

I remember when he held the fort when Bob got hurt. He was a solid NHL back up last year and I remember some really disastrous backups in our past. CMac won't hurt us, and we don't need perfection. Even Vezina winners have a few bad games. He was ready when called on and that's all we can ask for. (Okay, I can ask for a 19year old future Vezina winner but don't really think we're gonna get that.)

Ok with it, as everyone says we could do better.. if he can stay above .900 and take 50% of his starting points I'll be satisfied..

I don't mind having McBackup back, but it does put a lot of pressure on Bobrovsky to not go down.
