Let me start this by saying ive been drinking since 12pm and im pretty upset, but if i look on the bright side of todays events its McDonagh. The dude might be our 1st pair RHD of the future if Girardi leaves. He IMO was the USA's best dman this tourney and he spent a lot of it playing on the right side against the best players in the world. McDonagh signed for another 5 years at like 5m per year is god's gift to the ranger fan base after 20 years of punishment for 1994.

I found it funny that whole tournament the announcers kept pumping up suter during the game all the while as you're watching mcd make all the plays on your tv.

I noticed that too. Pairing him with Staal, if necessary, would be far from disastrous.

Even though McD looked great on the right side, and we will probably have a major need for a top RD...I still believe you play your best players in their positions of strength, and work around that. I'd keep him on the left.

Might have been a good idea to try this no?

Staal McDonagh
MDZ Girardi
Moore Stralman

I don't know about this, but I will say I never understood why it always had to be Moore or Del Zotto to play on their off side. Why wouldn't you try the better player there when the other kids are struggling. Never made any sense why either coach just refused to try McDonagh (or Staal for that matter) on the right. Oh well.

Let's not and say we did. Leave McDonagh on the left where he belongs.

He was only on the right because Bylsma is a certified moron. The pairs he made were a disaster and McDonagh being McDonagh went above and beyond in the face of a disadvantage like he always does. That doesn't mean we need to be doing it to him all the time.

This Olympics really made me want Vatanen.

If we could work out a deal based around Girardi for Vatanen

McDonagh-Vatanen
Staal-Stralman
Moore-Klein

Substitute Klein for McIlrath whenever he's ready and we're set.

I thought the NBC crew gave McDonagh a good amount of praise throughout the tournament. Moreso than most single players. They mentioned he usually plays the left side with the Rangers all of the time.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people are thinking that he got overlooked by the broadcast crew. I heard McDonagh's name mentioned more than just about anyone else, and yesterday especially they were praising him up and down.

What kind of paralell universe is this? Is Klein a 7th? Or still with Nashville? Do we have to trade for DZ in this universe, or is he still here?

He said "might have been a good idea." I think he meant it would have been worthwhile to try that before trading DZ.

Keep McDonagh on the left. He can play the right, but I'd still prefer Girardi over Staal on a top pair, so thats what it comes down to for me. I also think that McDonagh is better on his natural side.
