McDavid with a horrendous back-check

This play last night sums up why alot of people think Mcdavid plays the game for points rather than team wins. He coasts on a back-check while on the powerplay hoping for the play to go the other way and counter-attack. Instead Vegas scores a short. Mcdavid doesnt even take a stride past centre ice. He is supposed to be the leader of this team, his teammates will follow his lead. I wonder if Tippet has the guts to call him out in front of the team during video session.

Mcdavid is the best player on planet earth, you wont get an argument from me on that, but does he care more about individual stats or team wins? Down 1-0 in a massive divisional game while the Oilers are out of a playoff spot. Just unacceptable.

Isn't Drai just as bad? When Oilers played Florida earlier, it was easy to see they only play hard when they have the puck. Is this new or have they always given low effort on defense?

EDIT: Now that the whole play was posted, it's not great, but he likely doesn't catch up to the puck enough to make a difference anyway.

It's terrible when you watch the video. And not McDavid's "backcheck", I mean the screengrab. The guy on the left (Draisaitl) gets his shot blocked and it's just a straight 2 man breakaway. Nothing McDavid could do. Scapegoating at its (worst) finest.

There's already 2 other Oilers defenders back in the zone and he was flat footed on a blocked shot. If anything get mad at Barrie for launching it right into the shin pads of the guy directly in front of him.

Mcdavid plays the entire 2 minutes of every Oiler powerplay. They were 20-30 seconds into the powerplay. He wasnt tired. Gimme a break

McDavid trending towards being a stat accumulator that retires without a cup. Haven't seen an elite player so consistently selective with when he decides to try or not. Losing seems like a minor inconvenience to him as long as he gets his points.
