He's sandbagging because he wants to give the Leafs a super discount and then break Gretzky's single season point record while winning Toronto's first cup in 6 decades. #GOATLife
Moving to LA to win a Cup there, something that Gretzky failed to do.

Opposite experience to MacGinnon. MacGinnon had never even gotten a 100 points season but tried to bully his way through the playoffs. After finally winning a cup MacGinnon has abandoned playing well in the playoffs and goes all out for the regular season.

McDavid has seen his team fall just a little short each post season. And now has adapted to be fresher for the playoffs. The entire team has followed his lead. And they were closer than ever before last year. McDavid is still the undisputed best player of the last 5 years (with the exception of a healthy Carey Price). And in the playoffs the gap will show.

Clearly the best player in the league still. We are just being reminded that he is a mere mortal like the rest of them.

Wayne went from 215 to 183pts in one season. Doesn't mean Wayne wasn't the best.

An incredible player and I’ll be the first to admit it.

However, since his 2022-23 form, he has notably declined and has had multiple players enter his tier (Nate, Kucherov).

Both are out scoring him the last 2 years. He clearly has some type of nagging injury or something going on. Still probably the best player in the league, but no longer the consensus best player.
Crosby was 28 when people declared he was cooked in Fall 2015. He then won two Smythes and was the Hart runner-up three times.

McDavid turns 28 next month.

I know no one cares, but something McDavid has really improved on is scoring without having to rely on his speed. I think/hope this is good for his longevity, because a lot of people were saying his game would deteriorate as soon as he loses his top end speed.

He thinks the game a lot better than some give him credit for.

I don't think so. If anything he's better than last year, the goal scoring touch is coming back, last year it dropped off because of an abdominal injury that was bothering him all year long.

He was overpassing trying to force feed Hyman to start the year but after he snapped out of that, he has 11 goals in his last 14 games.

It looks like the ab injury that was impacting his shot all of last year has healed.

The only reason McD is not atop the leaderboard right now is SCF hangover. Affected the whole team really, shit hurts.

ah Jordan Belfort, one of the bigger McDavid haters on this site

who can forget this gem about McDavid on pace for 150 points:
That won’t happen, this happens every year where he tears it up at the beginning but D will tighten up and not allow him any space. He will still be point per game but won’t come close to 150

And to everyone else coming after me I don’t care, not going to respond to everyone individually. Fact is Mcdavid will slow down and I will come back for the last laugh. Book this now

McDavid ended up with 153 that season

Yep. Same guy:

His other gem from earlier that season: Jordan “The Court Jester” Belfort

Today’s thread is just the fourth post he has made in the two years since his holiday 2022 bash McDavid bender that shipped him into exile.

He must be so confused now when McDavid didn't "he tear it up" right at the start and is heating up just now.

Jordan, it's okay, we're all bit regarded, some more than others though.

Before anyone shits on the leaf fans for saying dumb things. He's not a leaf fan. Not one post in the leafs board and nothing about them on the mains etc... looks like a troll or attention seeker to me....

Yes OP I concur he has wholly regressed. With contract talks coming up, the cap restraint might be real with this one

Detroit will happily take a "flyer" on this regressing player, in hopes that something meaningful can be salvaged before his arc steepens downwards after age 30

He should probably just retire before it gets too bad. He can preserve his points per game and we can pace him out to 1500 games and nearly 2300 points.

Seriously what is up with some of the recent activity on here?
