No, but if the opportunity is there the Oilers could have just shot the puck at a Canuck for them to play it or Demko to get the PP. Neither ref decided to call it so they kept trying score. You made a poor argument...
 
matthews had a similar play to dahlin a few years ago, he got a couple of games for that

I'd expect 2-3 here as well

I mean... even if thats the case (and I can see how Oilers fans could think that... I'd be mad if someone held Hughes in a 1 goal game with the goalie pulled). A suspension is 100% deserved as well. Everyone who does a dirty play like that has a reason in their head for why they are mad. Someone said something, someone did something and it wasnt called, etc etc. Having a reason to be mad doesnt matter with respect to the NHL rulebook.

In a weird way its nice Myers also crosschecked Bouchard so now we can see if the league is biased here or not. You cant just suspend Myers... but you also cant let people crosscheck others in the face, so whatever mild tap on the wrist they would have given McDavid (if anything) goes out the window now or has to be given to Myers too.
 
The justification for McDavid to crosscheck Garland because he was being held is laughable.

A lot of Oil fans were crying bloody murder over the Soucy incident last year, but yet this play tonight is a nothing burger apparently. Hypocrisy much?

I see what you mean now. I have my doubts personally that at that moment anyone would actually give up the possession instead of further trying to attack the net.

McDavid has a history and has been both suspended and fined before, Matthews did not.

im pretty sure given the time between mcdavids last fine and suspension he isn't considered a repeat offender, not that matters to people like you.
 
the clown hockey garlands playing by holding onto mcdavid to keep him out of play deserves that shot . and mcdavid has to constantly put up with cheap punks playing clutch n grab to slow him down . as a fan i dont want to see punk teams cheating to hold mcdavid back , i want to see mcdavids elite talent creating great hockey games . and the shot to side of helmet was nothing anyway , hearing millen throwing a hissy fit like mcd killed him made it an even uglier occurence

Once again, McBaby can't keep his temper and he's nearly 30.

And it's no wonder when the league coddles him

This whole thing starts because McDavid tackles Garland to try and stop a puck leaving the zone.

Yup. Drop the gloves if you got a beef. Easier time to cross check some defensiveness player then turtle. Absolutely a coward play. He was frustrated....who give's a f^@^?

Point me to the line in the crosscheck rule that says that suspensions are about whether you had a right to be mad. (I'll give you a hint to help your search... Rule 59 ONLY says that the level of punishment is based on the severity of the contact and further whether there is intent to injure or not). If you want to go full beer league rules you can, but thats not the rules of the NHL, thats just how it works in your own head.

I fully believe McDavid will get a smaller suspension and they will make some excuse for it because its McDavid. Not because a part of the cross-checking rule is that if you had an obvious reason to be mad then its OK. Someone shoved you? Thats a justified crosscheck to the face as opposed to an unjustified one, right? There are no justified crosschecks to the face.
