i think its the canucks players fault for being so close to mcdavid really. If he wasn't there the stick doesn't touch his sternum ( which is under the shoulder) so i dont know, maybe the cancuk should have been skating backwards better.

Part of the issue is everyone ignoring initial missed calls and then whining about the retaliation (not that it’s justified, McDavid still deserves a suspension).

Despite a few skirmishes lately this Canucks team is still so soft. That said, how does McDavid cross-check Garland in the head, and no one gets in his face? Best player in the game or not, someone needed to step up there and throw some punches, or head lock him at the very least.

Call Bouchard holding on Pettersson, then call the McDavid hold on Garland….. oh wait, that doesn’t fit the “McDavid gets infracted more” narrative. If the rule book was called the same the oilers would’ve been short handed for the final minutes of the game.

Yeah this isn't a high sticking penalty. It's spearing, and typically that's given a two game suspension.

All well and good for every Conor Garland to play tough guy and give the opposition star player the business, but if things are devolving to the laws of the jungle, it's part of self protection that someone like McDavid will pull the snap show card and keep people honest around him.

Not exactly evolved thinking, but turning the other cheek is a way worse option.
