Mcdavid 5min Match Penalty: Cross check to the face of Garland (Suspended 3 games )

Garland should be lauded for his end game heroics. He nullified the greatest player in the game for the last 10 seconds or so and got away with it. Even if the refs had called a penalty on him he still takes McD out of the play for maybe 5 seconds and Oilers get a whopping 5 second pp.

you don't know that. The play was reviewed and no fine or suspension was given. Thats the end of that play. Its not eligible to be reviewed again or be used for future fines or suspenisons. its a settled case.

The league will suspend both Myers and McDavid on the merits of what happened tonight and not 2 nights ago.

No fine or suspension was given due to the benefit of the doubt.

McDavid elbowed a guy in the face. The league deemed it an accident. Now, he crosschecked a guy in the head. The league can't give him the benefit of the doubt again.

It isn't justification exactly. I think there are only a few who are actually suggesting McDavid should be given any leeway because he was being held. It does possibly explain why it irked McDavid to the point of anger though. That doesn't absolve him from punishment though.

I haven't see a single Oilers fan defending McDavid's cross checking of Garland, only that they understand why he was aggravated after being held with no penalty to be called, but no one condones how he handled him self after he got up.

I agree that it's very clearly the refs fault. Just like last game. Where the refs literally skated by and grabbed McDavid's elbow and pushed it into an opposing player's face. The refs have it in for the Oilers.

Both players should get a suspension but Myers should get an additional game or 2 IMO.

I am not excusing it at all but McDavids crosscheck was at least connected to the frustration of being held by Garland (of course no call on Garland...lol).
Myers crosscheck wasnt connected to anything except stupidity.
You could even make an argument that it was predatory.
That should matter.

It probably wont though because after all this is the NHL we are talking about here.

As an objective and neutral fan I feel that at that point of the game Garland was doing what he could to win, and succeeded, and mcdavid lost control again and his assault should be punished with a few games. Get that garbage out of our great game
