As an objective and neutral fan I feel that at that point of the game Garland was doing what he could to win, and succeeded, and mcdavid lost control again and his assault should be punished with a few games. Get that garbage out of our great game

I haven't see a single Oilers fan defending McDavid's cross checking of Garland, only that they understand why he was aggravated after being held with no penalty to be called, but no one condones how he handled him self after he got up.
What McDavid has done to fans of the teams he consistently embarrasses is absolutely amazing, they are rabid dogs when they can get a tiny poke in on him.

Doesn't really work if you do something that should be penalized.
Stepping on Hughes face would be something Josh Brown could do to win. Refs in theory should not allow it.
Garbage in the game comes when illegal plays don't get called.

refreshing to see someone admit Garlands dirtbag tactics
For sure. The guy is a beauty.

Add this video, clear evidence Garland wasn’t committing infractions first.

Yeah, looking at this play it's clear McDavid should have been penalized first but the refs decided to let them play on and therefore couldn't call either guy.

Garland pokechecks the puck off McDavid and is likely going to get an empty net goal. McDavid realizes that and basically jumps on him, which is interference/holding. Garland reacts to that by holding McDavid down. The play basically continues until McDavid gets up and crosschecks Garland to the head.

The first penalty in that play was clearly McDavid. The refs didn't want to call it and let them play on so Garland took advantage and held him down.

Funny stuff.

And then McDavid took advantage of refs allowing everything and tested the flex of his stick on Garlands neck

Garland should be lauded for his end game heroics. He nullified the greatest player in the game for the last 10 seconds or so and got away with it. Even if the refs had called a penalty on him he still takes McD out of the play for maybe 5 seconds and Oilers get a whopping 5 second pp.
absolutely dis honest ridiculous point of veiw on how the game should be played , and if everybody played the cheating game like that the nhl would be a joke

McDavid faces nowhere near the punishment star players in the 80s and 90s had to endure. He cant handle a wrestling match with a 5'6" guy and retaliates with a head shot. Why doesnt he just drop the gloves - i mean hes 8 inches taller and like 40 lbs heavier. Should be at least 2 games.

You take McDavid or you take both. Refs really f***ed that up.

McDavid clearly lost the puck and tried to interfere with Garland. If he doesn't, Garland likely has an empty net goal. That's where the play should have been blown dead to avoid everything that ensued.
