This league is corrupt to the core and definitely anti-Leaf from the officiating to the DOPS...add Matthews to a long list of Leaf suspensions in the last bunch of years where other players from other teams get away with much less or nothing at all...there is no consistency and no standard...the Leaf hate is real.

Yeah nobody can ever convince me there isn't an obvious anti-leafs bias. Bottom 5 in penalties drawn last 5 years, the Arizona game before this was a disgrace. On this one, no penalty for Dahlin on the play until they called double minors once Matthews reacted. Yes it was a cross-check to the face/neck, yes it has happened countless times before but it resulted in nothing more than a $5k fine, absolute bush league shit lol. Get Parros the f*** out of there already.
The play-by-play crew was literally calling for Matthews to be suspended right after the play was done. The bullshit runs so deep.
And then bootlicking Mcquire is straight on air after going on about "it's just the league we're in".

Who still buys this crap?

I'm with you guys on this. The league is bush and they don't seem to care. Either a cross check to the neck/head is egregious or it isn't. Why can't they create some continuity at DOPS?
Don't even get me started on the reffing.

There is a lot of inconsistency with the suspensions, and it's really frustrating at times, but do people here really think Matthews shouldn't get suspended for that crosscheck?

what a f***ing joke. if this team has any balls they will come out against it publicly and not just take ti and be quiet.
Yup, I’d dress Matty anyway tell Gerry to blow me and that I’m not writing out an revenue sharing cheque to keep his pet project in the desert afloat.

How did they come up with that so fast?
It's like they expidited this super quick cuz "leafs"
Other times it's takes longer for them to come out with a suspension.... What gives?
Meanwhile Spezza’s appeal took longer than the 6 games he was suspended for

But that is the issue. If every other team doesn’t get suspended for that play then Matthews shouldn’t be either. Especially considering him being arguably the best player in the game AND no history AND basically no penalties as well.

If the league was calling everything properly then yes maybe Matthews should be suspended for a game.

I think it’s a suspension worthy play. Just not in the context of where they’ve drawn the line with all the other plays they’ve either reviewed and let go or not even reviewed at all

I think any time a player chooses to raise their stick and cross check a player high, whether it rides up or directly contacts the head, it’s reckless and on them and deserves to be suspended because we don’t want it in the game. If they wanna start calling all of it suspensions from here fine, but I feel doubtful we will see that

There are clip after clip of crosschecks just as bad, if not a lot worst, that have had zero suspensions from the past few seasons, some of them from this season. The last crosscheck suspension was to Kadri in the playoffs 2 years ago.

This has nothing to do with deserving it, it's all about precedence.

Just look at Huberdeau driving his elbow to the head of someone last night and tell me why that isn't a suspension based on the Matthews and Spezza suspensions, then we can talk about how Matthews deserved 2 games. Nobody gives a f*** because he plays for cup contending Florida Panthers.

Just confirms the league is very dirty. MLSE has the cash go after the DOPS. Make a public mockery of them.

With the lack of consistency, I'm not sure there's any kind of solid precedent on anything, but even if there was, you can always set a new one.

That cross-check should be a suspension. Agreed?
Again, what does the word precedent mean?
And regarding your statement on consistency, have you bothered to read any of this thread? Because with the Leafs, there doesn't seem to be any consistency problems.

The abuse that Matthews takes without any calls is beyond ridiculous. The abuse that he took before that happened? Aren't we supposed to be protecting our star players? I go back to last years playoffs and Weber going full 2 handed hammer on his back repeatedly, no call. It's not like Matty is dirty AT ALL, and he consistently takes a beating without any calls. It really is pathetic.

Again, the precedent for the rest of the league won’t change because of this either. This is a one off for Parros to stick it to the Leafs. The DoPS will go back to ignoring cross-checks to the head or only fining them after this.

Maybe if the ref did his f-ing job and called the Sabres defenceman the first time or the second he mugged AM this wouldn't have happened. Good thing the Zebra mafia got AM back for him yelling at them for missing the hold in the 'yotes game. What a joke. AM will challenge this and get one game.

So summary, if you call a ref out, they will get back at you. The the ref does not do his job the player gets suspended, gotchya ... this League is a joke.

Actually I’d say if anything the league has been somewhat consistently not doing anything about it which is what makes this suspension even more irritating because we’ve been on the receiving end of several of those unsuspended high cross checks

So how many "one offs" do the Leafs get against them? This babble I'm hearing about "inconsistency" is hilarious. There is no inconsistency. It's all planned.

I can totally get on board with the view that other infractions should be suspension, but anyone saying Matthews shouldn't get suspended is out to lunch.
