One thing that makes me laugh about the way the league approaches the Toronto market. Everybody has a great time clowning the Leafs, trolling them on non calls and heavy suspensions and having a great old time when they fail to do anything in the playoffs.

But apparently a single Leaf playoff home game earns $7 million. If this number is true and the Leafs played 3.5 home games per round in a 4 round playoffs, that's 14 home dates earning $7 million. Not sure what the league average in playoff gate receipt is, but right off the bat, a deep Leafs playoff run could net $98 million or so in hockey related revenue.

What a complete joke. I wouldn’t be surprised if Parros wanted to give a Matthews a lifetime ban, but was told no. He’ll probably be so mad when Matthews returns to the Leafs lineup.

It sucks, but you can't crosscheck someone in the head. Period. Yeah the league 100% has been inconsistent on this in the past but what Matty did has no place in hockey.

He's a true role model though and I'm confident that not only will he learn from this and resume being the gentlemanly player that he is, but it'll somehow light an even bigger fire under his ass after he gets a 2 game break.

I am assuming that is a first round game too.

Imagine what a Leafs SC game would garner? The Leafs haven't been to a Final in how long? Was it '67? Most Leafs fans were not even alive.

Wouldn't be surprised if that series alone would surpass what every small market team brings in a playoff run combined.

Too bad nothing would make Bettman happier than to see the Coyotes win a Cup.

I simply want the team, some part of the team's front office to call out the league's terrible, absolutely awful refereeing and player safety dept. If nothing else, it gives the players something to rally around.

I feel like the fury shown here is due to our (the fans’) very real but ultimately futile anger at…

…the refs, for being incompetent, inconsistent and biased, which seems to be proven, and also comes with no accountability and no consequences
…the DoPS, for being incompetent, inconsistent and biased, which seems to be proven, and also comes with no accountability and no consequences
…the League, for being incompetent, inconsistent and biased, which seems to be proven, and also comes with no accountability and no consequences
…the Leafs, for being FAR too passive about defending their players and calling out the above on their actions, which we know, and also comes with no accountability and no consequences

It is the last point that makes me the angriest. Nobody at Leafs HQ says or does anything…and we, the fans, just plod on, yell and scream for no reason and no result, and we miss our best player for 2 reasonably important games. And we will yell and scream about everything, and then root, root, root for the home team.

Truly. Just reading these posts. We hate Parros, we hate the refs, we hate the DoPS, we hate the NHL, heck, we hate Mrazek, and we hate goaltending in general. And for what?

Nothing. It is just emotion for emotion’s sake, and not even getting it out of our systems here at HFBoards makes anything better. It just sucks.

I will always cheer for the Leafs, and I am not talking anyone down or ripping on anyone’s feelings here. Just…sounding off about sounding off. Accomplishes as much as any other post, really.
This is why I believe that Shanahan still works for the NHL while collecting a paycheck from MLSE !!!

He does NOT call out the NHL for the anti-Leafs bias !!! Nor has he overseen the building of our Leafs in the image he was as a hockey player. Something is just NOT right. Why has he NEVER moved his family to Toronto too ???

Is there any agenda at play when Jeremy Jacobs Boston Bruins are 2 points behind the Leafs and could be 2 points ahead of the Leafs after Matthews’ suspension?

Top 5 player in the league, rocket favourite . One of the worst at "drawing penalties" apparently. If he stands up to himself then he gets suspended. If this is not a clear anti-Leaf agenda from the asshats in the NHL then I don't know what is.

Leafs gotta stop paying money into the NHL fund. NHL can go f*** itself if it is not going to be consistent.

I honestly don't mind the league throwing out a suspension for a crosschecks long as they are consistent with the rule (which they aren't)

What's perplexing is the countless D men who get away with multiple cross checks to a guys back every game and don't event get a minor penalty.

The NHL has the worst officiating of any major sports league in the world, and it's not even close. It's completely ad hoc what rules are enforced and when.

The notion that this will set a new “precedent” is also bullshit. The next motherf***er on some no-name team that does this will get the usual slap on the wrist fine and be able to continue playing.

It’s ridiculous that us fans spend the most exorbitant amount on tickets for this obvious bias in officiating and DoPS decision making. It’s absurd that MLSE keeps broke as f*** teams like Arizona afloat with revenue sharing when the league is only too happy to f*** the franchise up the ass on the ice.

A guy will do the same hit as Matthews in the playoffs and he will be applauded for making "a good old time hockey play". It's a joke.

Interesting seeing the responses.

Seems like an obvious suspendable play. Thought he'd get 1, but 2 is fine. Can't crosscheck someone in the neck, and it's not relevant what happened before.

Lol anti-Leaf agenda. This is Infowars maple Leafs edition.

That cross check Matthews put on Dahlin's shoulder pad is like 25% of the skillset Ben Chiarot brings to the game of hockey. I always maintained if Matthews ever got that kind of physical abuse he should get the stick up to discourage future cheap shots.

how may got away with fines?
41.

7 so far in 2021-2022, 8 in 2020-2021, 4 in 2019-2020, 5 in 2018-2019, 7 in 2017-2018, 0 in 2016-2017, 1 in 2015-2016, 0 in 2014-2015, 3 in 2013-2014, 2 in 2012-2013, 2 in 2011-2012, 2 in 2010-2011, 0 in 2009-2010

Cross-checking fines increased dramatically once Parros took over, not suspensions though.

Guess how many games the hab got for this?

YES! ANTI-LEAF AGENDA!

I agree. Should have also been a suspension. There are lots of those that are only given fines and I hope going forward it's consistent.

It's not a big conspiracy against Toronto though man, and you getting all worked up is funny :D

So different rules for Leafs players? Weird stance. If player A gets a 2 game suspension and player B gets a fine or nothing in the exact same play only thing being different is they play for different teams that’s fine? Because that’s what you’re saying. Again nobody is saying it doesn’t deserve a suspension but what’s wrong is there is no consistency especially towards a certain team.
