I think we win in Tampa with Rempe and Trouba. The team got into some bad habits against a team that has their number coming from behind. The two big boys would’ve had them standing a little taller. Thought they wilted a little against a more experience team
I think that series may be won by which team gets the better goalie performance.

If he can't focus after this, he'll probably never figure it out.

He's 21. He's a kid. There's no reason he won't become a better or a smarter player. Usually the one's who don't are players who won't take direction and even then sometimes it's just that it takes them longer to get it and Lias is an example of that. Lias is a better player now....his AHL numbers improved quite a lot after he left the Rangers organization. The question for him is if or when he'll get another chance but if he ever does he'll be a bottom liner. DeAngelo who never really worked at improving his defensive play was another. Most aren't like that though.

Rempe wasn't playing in a giants-only league before this; he understands he's bigger than the average player. I think, more than anything, excitement got the best of him. First ~month in the league, gigantic hype out of nowhere, lot of energy playing against the same team that he obliterated a couple weeks earlier. Gotta get the anxious yips out, but still manage to keep his general demeanor.
I was talking about this with my barber the other day. Rempe needs to understand just how much bigger he is than the average NHL player. What would be a normal shoulder to shoulder hit from most players, because of his height, means it would be a shoulder to head hit on the best of days.

I actually really like Rempe. I really hope he figures it out.
With great height (and hype) comes great responsibility!

As probably the only guy on the planet that is taller than Connor H, might have been a good idea to keep him in the lineup and use him for screens.
Lav was sending him a message.

Would be nice if he would send a message to a certain couple of butt buddies but since they're vets it wont happen.

Wish Torts was our coach ong

Disgusting how the anti-fighting crowd says he is going to be a CTE death waiting to happen after the Chris Simon news.

Not sure why it would be "disgusting" to want to avoid players having their lives ruined, but you do you.

If he keeps fighting this much, and has a reasonably long career, he will very likely have CTE later in life. That is a proven fact at this point.

Many experts dispute the very existence of CTE, there are studies that go both ways and it's far from settled science. With any study you also have to account for all the variables, most goons, professional boxers, etc came from rough upbringings, had childhood trauma, lost parents as children (including Rempe), family history of mental illness & drug abuse etc. Yet their average life expectancy is longer than the average person with all those same variables who aren't professional NHL players, boxers, etc. I grew up in a shit environment and over 30 kids from my grad class are already dead (and I'm young!), my mom grew up very rural on a logging camp with a bunch of alcoholism, drug abuse & such running rampant. Most people she grew up with are dead in their 40's-50's. These are the experiences a lot of those people share, many times there's a reason these guys become tough guys/goons. Read about the life stories of a lot of professional boxers, many of them are tragic. There are also many goons, professional fighters who live long lives. It's not that black & white... but regardless I think the disgusting part is not so much the expressing concern, but the people actively wishing CTE/death/etc on him.

I think some of this needs to be contextualized. If you look at how much some of these older guys used to fight, it's immense. And I'm talking from an early age they fought ALL THE TIME. Juniors isn't the same as it used to be and even in the AHL, Rempe wasn't fighting anywhere close to as much as some of these guys who played 30 years ago were.

Like just compare Tie Domi's PIM totals to Rempe at the same age and you'll see what I'm saying

Oh Man, this is not a path I want to go down today. Suffice to say that I absolutely, unequivocally, disagree.

That said, I do see that I misread OP's original post. If people are actually wishing Rempe to become the latest example of CTE, then yeah, that's disgusting.

And most of them didn't just start fighting when they joined hockey. Sports gets kids in at risk environments off of the streets and into something organized that teaches them life lessons, discipline, provides them with role models they may not have at home; and many people who made a living thanks to rough stuff in sports would be doing God knows what if they hadn't played sports. Sports have ALWAYS been a more civilized way of channeling competitiveness, aggression, etc and this is really what the entire history of the Olympics is and its role in global peacekeeping. There are so many risks that people have no problem with people taking in their everyday lives that have nowhere near the same benefits of getting to live your childhood dream and become a multimillionaire.

He also did this to make a name for himself, he made his mark on the league and doesn't have to fight nearly as much anymore.

Rempe has been quoted saying he didn't even know he elbowed the dude. He thought he hit the wall.

This is a pretty big problem if he doesn't know where his elbows are going

Read about the life stories of a lot of professional boxers, many of them are tragic. There are also many goons, professional fighters who live long lives. It's not that black & white... but regardless I think the disgusting part is not so much the expressing concern, but the people actively wishing CTE/death/etc on him.

There is some truth to some of this in terms up upbringing but CTE is a thing.

To argue otherwise is to just ignore science. There’s no reason for a 40 year old to have the brain function of someone twice their age and the impulse control/language skills of a toddler.
