Does anyone else think this might have something to do with Martin Jones not being signed yet?

Thinking if he earns anything it'll be a two way contract with possibility of him earning a backup role next season if Scrivens leaves as a UFA. Start in Manchester as a mentor and work his way to a NHL backup role.

I'd be shocked if he beats out Scrivens. Scrivens IMO isn't just a good backup, I think he has co-number one potential (not in LA obviously but overall).

I wonder what the hold up is on Jones. Not a good year to be holding out, even if it's just a minimum level contract offer, take it.

Garon is here to goto mancheaster for jones holdout. He will not be in the nhl scrivens is more then capable as a backup especially at half his contract. Lets not forget hes half price people hes a cheap cap hit for this season.

Garon only has a PTO. He can't go to Manchester without an actual contract and I'd wager he can get more money by going to Europe than going to Manchester. He's competing for the backup job with Scrivens at best.

Fine with it, really have no idea what to expect from Scrivens, let the better open the bench door for 65+ games.

M Jones on holdout and demanding more than the 10% raise that LA offered him. his demands make no sense with .500 play and 2.60 GAA over the past few seasons. the guy doesn't have much bargaining room to work with.

i see this more as a play to get traded out and out of the shadow of J Quick and the likely backup of Scrivens. he's looking to be moved

Where would he go that would give him a better chance? If any team was clamoring for a backup this season, Garon would have gone there you'd think. The fact he's in LA, and some other decent backup level goalies like Theodore are sitting at home as camps start is indication enough no team is looking for goaltending help right now, at least not backup level help, especially the kind that has never played an NHL game in his life.

He's best to sign, go to Manchester, do well, get a recall if Quick/Scrivens get hurt or need a rest, and maybe get a few NHL minutes in. Until he at least has a NHL game or two on his resume, he's got zero bargaining power in the league.

i agree with your logic, but it is his (his agents?) that doesn't make sense. he needs to worry about the "on ice" product and the "off ice" will work itself out.

to sit out and demand more money after being mediocre at best, screams he wants out of LA's org to me. Dean wins these battles and players that go this route usually end up with a bus ticket out of town

The scrivshow aka. scrivelmetimbers aka. scrivedforherpleasure aka. scrivlejam will be just fine and make M. Garon look like jason labarabara's blind aunt.

Pretty much what I was thinking when I saw this.
Right now the Kings/Monarchs/Reign have;

Quick
Scrivens
Garon (in camp at least)
Jones (no idea what is going on here...)
Bartosak
Niederberger
Berube

LA:
Quick
Scrivens

Man:
Garon/Jones
Niederberger/Bartosak

Ont:
Berube

Garon works as a solid Plan D if a bunch of things fall through or an injury heppens.

Yep. And most of the time the players career isn't so hot after either. Cammy has done well in spurts, but not so for a guy like O'Sullivan.

Garon to Manchester makes zero sense guys unless he's the backup down there, and frankly, why would he sign on to be an AHL backup when a goalie of his caliber can easily get a starting job, paying a lot more, in Europe?

And he's only likely to be the backup in Manchester. I can't see DL and Co. letting Berube/Jones/whoever ride the pine so Garon can get minutes.
