Congrats guys. Seems like Brodeur needed to break one more record before he hung them up.

Yup this helps him get to the goalie points record faster. Barrasso has 49 points in the regular season and 7 playoff points. I thought maybe Marty had the overall lead combined with his 12 playoffs points. Kinda like he had the shutout record playoffs and regular season combined before he broke either individual record. He's one point away from tying Barrasso in playoffs + regular season combined though. Marty has 55 now and Barrasso 56 combined.

Marty also didn't have Lemieux and Jagr on his team either if you wanna talk about system and the team game. Barrasso never got another point again in his career during the last 5 years of his career after he left Pittsburgh. Barrasso didn't have the trapezoid either, but Marty didn't for most of his career either to be fair.

Aside from the Barrasso record what other goalie record doesn't he have?
Now he's tied with Barrasso with playoff points + regular season. It's not an official record. I thought he was one away but each have 56 regular season and playoffs combined. Actually he's in a 3 way tie with Barrasso and Roy. Roy had 45 points regular season and 11 in playoffs for 56 total. As weird as that is all 3 are tied now when combined, but again not an official record.

Playoff wins. He'll never get there. He'd have to have win 2 Cups, another playoff series, and 2 more playoff games to get it I think. He has playoff + regular season wins combined though. Even when you take away the shootouts.

I'm not sure if he has the most points of any goalie in the playoffs though. He had the most in a single season last year with 4 I think. Roy had 11 playoff points career and Marty has 13.

playoff wins, roy has that one. that's the only one I know, there might be another.

Roy has basically all the career playoff records, wins, games played, losses, etc. Marty goes have the most career playoff shutouts, also has the record for most in a single playoffs as well (and they still had the balls to not give him the smythe)

He actually does not have the record for most games played in a single season, and never will. Also apparently Hextall has the record for most penalty mins.

He also doesn't have most goals allowed, most ties (and never will) and won't have the highest save percentage career wise, or lowest GAA.

Fuhr has the most playoff points by a goalie. How many does Marty have?

He passed the regular season wins record without the shootout a while ago too, so the argument he has the record due to shootouts is bunk.

Marty has 13 playoff points, 43 regular season. Roy has 11 playoff points, 45 regular season. Barrasso has 7 playoff points, 49 regular season. Fuhr has 14 playoff points, 46 regular season.

So Brodeur, Roy, and Barrasso are in a 3 way tie for 2nd place with playoffs+regular season combined 56 points. None of these guys have a goal though. While Marty's 2 regular season goals might have been flukes, he earned his playoff goal as he fired it into the net himself.

Also all of those guys retired before the trapezoid. Marty has a chance to break the playoff+regular season ones both individually and combined. I remember them hyping it in 07-08 when he broke the playoff shutouts+regular season shutouts combined even though he didn't have the individual records yet.

Like I said in the GDT, Marty breaks records every time he steps onto the ice. But sometimes the record he breaks is not the one we were expecting.

I really hope he can legitimately score another one, I know he really wants to, and he has tried a few times in the past couple of years.

I know Brodeur and Cam Janssen always have bets on who will get more points each season, but what about career goals? Janssen:3 , Brodeur:3. Will be interesting to see who finishes with more career goals.

We all will. It`ll be the toughest breakup we`ve ever experienced no matter what we`ve been through in our lives.

Let`s not think about that yet though.

big promotional opportunity for kleenex to supply the crowd with the appropriate tear-sheets. beforehand

Lots of Playoff ones, unfortunately.

****ing Roy and the Habs.

A lot of it was with Colorado too later in his career. It's insane that Colorado went to at least the ECF all but one year between 96 and 02, with two SCF wins and appearances. 3 of the 4 ECF eliminations were in 7 games too.

He has both playoff shutout records though so I'll take that! :yo:

Both season and career Save percentage and GAA he doesn't have and won't. No one is going to touch Hasek's record there.

And the huge blimps of this generation that take up the entire net probably.

Yes, all of this goes for me too. The entire arena will be choked up. Not a dry eye in the house.
