Why would you cheer against Canada? If the answer is what I think it is, sure root against those kids that had nothing to do with any previous infractions.

One of the dumbest things I've ever read.

Yea I forgot they replaced all the people working for Hockey Canada who covered everything up, and have still been downplaying it even since it became public ... oh wait.

Anyways go Knies!

Hockey Canada, it’s board and executives either need to be fully replaced, or Hockey Canada needs to be stripped of its stewardship of hockey in Canada and replaced by an accountable org. Their actions have been deplorable and are an embarrassment nationally.

But that won’t stop me from cheering for Canadian kids to succeed.
It's kind of amusing that you think this is a hockey Canada problem. This is an issue throughout all of junior hockey. I would not be surprised to learn of past USA teams doing the exact same thing. Same for Russia, Finland, Sweden.

It's awful and everyone involved needs to be held responsible, but to think and act like this is just something Hockey Canada has done is very naive.

With Kral's skillset he needs to show much better AHL production and at age 23 this year it kinda needs to happen now.
I like to use Carl Gunnarsson as an example of a future NHL defender who never had big offensive numbers at any level and was a bit behind his draft class in development rate. I like Kral's style of game as something in the range of a Gunnarsson type of defender. Also he had a pretty nice season in the Czech league for a middling team.

There are going to be offensive opportunities opened up with Duszak gone for one or more of the Marlies' young defenders to grab.

It's more of a now or never year for Hollowell. His great skating and smart one-on-one technique would be so much more promising on a larger defender. I think he's just overmatched physically. Even with a great offensive season at the AHL level, I don't think he can make the leap to the next level.

Do we know yet which of the young Finns will be playing with the Marlies this season?

No it's not just Hockey Canada's problem. It's a problem across sports and society in general. Hockey Canada is our house and tax funded so it should be our first concern. I'm going to state it plainly why these specific incidents continues to happen all over the place: it's the result of unsupervised feted young males with high income potential in an era where they have access to any sort of illicit material for seed to plant these ideas into their heads.

I just saw that Josh Ho-Sang is joining Ufa in the KHL this season. Among his potential teammates are former Leaf Nik Kulemin, former highly rated prospect Ryan Murphy and of course hopefully Leafs' 1st rounder Amirov.

Neat.
I wonder if the org had anything to do with it?

Rich Clune retired and is joining the Leafs development staff.

No surprise given his age and style of play, but he was a guy who absolutely loved playing here and he was actually not too bad last year.

Clifford and Simmonds should be taking over the enforcer torch from him next year.

Player to coach/advisor role ratio in NHL?

Ok course, and it isn’t just limited to hockey either. But here we are talking about hockey, and we are mostly Canadian. Nobody is naive, just that Hockey Canada is the current discussion, and we in Canada need to take care of this.

Good for Clune to get a job with the org. I do wonder who will be the Captain of the Marlies this coming year.

I would only add all sports. When people are making a shit load of money off of it, blinders become easier to fit.

If someone is willing to take the time could we get a list of Leaf prospects playing in the upcoming WJHC?
Thanks in advance

While I was watching TV (I have Rogers Ignite) last night, I saw a message saying that LNN (Leafs Nation Network) would be going off the air on September 1st. Has anyone else here heard anything about this? I know that LNN is stuffed with re-runs most of the time... but at least we were able to watch all Marlies home games. That's the reason that I paid for it.

Yes, it appears it is going offline.

Such a poor decision. Back to the days it was called Leafs TV, they've done such a terrible job building it into anything at all. That channel could be a gold mine if done properly.

Wish the coach was different, but the Marlies potential defence this season should be fascinating to track. It should be a young defence with Kral in his 2nd season. Villeneuve as a rookie and potentially Kokkonen too. I'm expecting Kral to take another step after a promising rookie season. I'm not convinced on Villeneuve as a prospect yet but a lot of people in the know are high on him. Apparently Kokkonen has a contract in Liga next season, but it looks like there is a rule that can allow him to come to the Marlies so we'll see if he does.
Marlies goaltending will be very young too.
Forwards will mainly young too with a few veterans.

Programming is a mix of Maple Leafs fan focused features; original series with beyond the ice Leafs stories; and game day analysis, updates and team coverage. In a recent announcement by minor cable company Hay Communications in June or July 2022, the channel is expected to cease operations on August 31, 2022.
