Exceptional pass through a tight window. We may have something with this guy.

Maybe they can loan him to the Marlies next year?
I wouldn't expect Greb to move to NA for another 3-4 years.
Actually, I'd be surprised if he isn't in Toronto for training camp in 2024.
We'll see. These kind of KHL prospects tend to stay and cook in the KHL until they are 22-23 years old. Just like Ovchinnikov who is pushing 3 years since drafted, but he did play for the Marlies a bit and is signed to an ELC.
I think we probably know more of a timeline after next season when his current contract is up. A lot of Russian players don't have much interest in coming over to play in the AHL.We'll see. At this point you need to look at the most recent U20 comparables if he keeps this up. We're talking Chinakhov, Marchenko, and Kravtsov as the closest. We can't really look at Kravtsov because the NYR are a joke of an organization that ruins prospects. Right now Greb's PPG in his age 19 season is .58 or 0.49 if you count the 7 games where he averaged just over 2 mins with his old team. We'll see. I think a lot will come down to how Magnetigorsk treats him next year. If he's re-loaned to Amur or buried again it will be a race to bring him over. If they keep him and give him good playing time I don't think a 1-2 year extension would be seen as a bad thingAt this point you need to look at the most recent U20 comparables if he keeps this up. Chinakhov (0.53 as a 19 year old) came over in his age 20 season and played 62 games in the NHL.
Marchenko (.52) came over his age 22 season and has played 28 games so far.
If and I mean IF he keeps this up, I'd be shocked if the Leafs weren't bringing him here the moment his contract ended after next year. A few Marlies games like Ovchinnikov to end the 2023-24 season and have him fight for a roster spot at the beginning of 2024-25.
Yeah it wouldn't be a bad thing, especially with Magnetogorsk or another top-tier team if he was promised significant minutes. I'm just always a bit more skeptical about NHL prospects playing in the KHL unless they're Amirov-talents or better.I think a lot will come down to how Magnetigorsk treats him next year. Expected return February 10, 2023.
Know something we don't?
Hopefully trueIf Amirov is indeed returning to the ice, it would be amazing news.
Doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

I mean drafting a 19 year old, with mediocre results, is often going to get panned. Whoever saw something in him... I mean big congrats, at least so far. He's been a pleasant surprise, and we should all hope he continues to grow his game like this. This kid is slowly turning into one of my favorite Leaf prospects. I love these later round finds. Voit, Grebyonkin, Lisowsky, Tverberg, Holmberg....just to name a few. All of them drafted in the 5th round or beyond and they've all tracked so well.
I'll be honest with you, I had zero expectations on Nikita when we drafted him. Never heard of him TBH. I vaguely rememeber there being a bit of disappointment around the selection when it was made around these circles, so I just kind of trusted that narrative as this section of our board is where I come to learn about our guys. Not to throw shade at anyone in particular who may have been disappointed, I think it was more of an opinion developed on previously poor Russian drafting /development. Add in the fact that he was 19 years old at the time he was selected and it makes even more sense.
But he's really come out of nowhere eh??
his production in the second best league in the world as a 19 year old is no joke. We may have something here.
Oh for sure. I am not sure anyone could have saw this coming. Huge surprise.I mean drafting a 19 year old, with mediocre results, is often going to get panned. Whoever saw something in him...
