Our problem is we tend to grab a lot of cheap UFA'S for depth in the off-season and have a bunch of good prospects trending well we could throw contracts at as well

So that 50 man contract limit becomes a pain in the ass, were being penalized for doing a good job as an organization
I can understand why it's there but it's not helping an organization like ours

We could have worse "problems" I guess
Ya, looks like they have 52 contracts. Some of those they can let go after this season though or maybe trade away. There's about 4-8 guys they could easily let go. Going to be tough though.

I almost agree with you. His big hits and battles in front of the net just don't drive his corsi. Can't have anyone big that hits, its bound to offend some posters
Not that anybody cares much about corsi (are you stuck in 2013?), but why do you think big hits and net-front battles wouldn't improve one's corsi, or more relevant metrics, if those things are having a meaningful impact? Nobody is offended by having big players or hitting. Most just don't want to spend assets making sideways moves chasing specific overrated, flashy attributes.

So does that mean if the Leafs trade Matthews for Reaves, they will be guaranteed a cup? Why didn't this happen yet? :sarcasm:

Leafs have lost in the playoffs for 2 reasons. Shoddy goaltending, and/or lack of timely scoring. Yet LETS GET TOUGHNESS!! More Boosh, Clifford, Simmonds....AKA the 3 worst offenders who cost the Leafs the series to TB.

I'm sure some people would look at their arm and call it a leg.

Is Grebenkin / Grebyonkin considered a big forward?

Any knowledge on his contract status?
He's 6'2". Feels like that's not what you mean though.

Afaik he's under contract until the end of next year with Magnitogorsk although is currently on loan with Amur.

Depending on who graduates to the Leafs and who comes over from Europe or from College, the Marlies should have a very talented team in a couple years. We have the likes of:

Hirvonen
Voit
Minten
Grebenkin
Tverberg
Niemela
Hildeby
Miettinen
Amirov (health?)

All making the jump soon.

Isn’t Minten too young to join the Marlies next year? He’d have to play one more CHL season or make the Leafs outright, no?

Do we still have the rights to Lindell even though we terminated his contract? He's putting up some decent numbers in SEL, albeit in a small sample size.

Damn. Although he likely won't be anything, it would really suck if he somehow became good and signed somewhere else.
True, but by the sounds of it, it was Axel himself who wanted out. Dubas wanted to keep him around but Axel didn't want to be in North America, so they let him go. He didn't even want a loan.

If he does decide to come back some day, maybe that gesture will foster some goodwill, but at this point, him coming back and biting us isn't likely, if he's just not going to come back

I could see Rindell's production getting to a point where teams try to lure him back in a couple years, but even then I doubt the complete game reaches a point where we'd actually miss him

SDA probably highest iq on team and will be in the show in 2025 imo. Really like players like him even though he’s a bit scrawny. Reminds me a bit of backstrom without the shot.

Voit held to 0 points tonight. Didn't look too bad though, just couldn't get on the scoreboard. Dubas was watching the game most likely to check in on Voit but Kitchener has 2 potential players that could be late 1st rounders to 3rd rounders in Brzustewicz and Rehkopf he could be scouting as well, especially after Rehkopf had a pretty good showing at the Top Prospects game.
