Prospect Info: Marlies/Prospects Thread - 2023-23 Season Edition

Ty Voit with another assist. He is battling to become the first ever OHL scoring champion with under 20 goals. He has games in hand on the rest so I still like his chances. He doesn't shoot the puck a lot with only one player in the top 15 scorers shooting less. Tverberg is another extreme pass first guy so both cases their goal scoring is tied heavily to their decision making vs whether their shot is any good. It will be interesting to see whether pro coaching can have any impact on this because both are high skill guys.

As the president of the Ryan Toyberg fanclub, I have to be nitpicky.

I haven't seen him play in the last 20 games, but from the games that I have seen, he shows an inclination towards goal scoring as he likes to skate into high danger areas. He may be a playmaker on the pp though as uconn's scheme is set on making woods the primary option. But if he goes to the ahl/nhl, I would see him as a shooter.

After some further digging I agree saying pass first is incorrect. Due to an early start on the wine:) I fixated on shot totals.

Here are the top 8 from Hockey East scorers the last two years. I left out 2020-21 as he would have been getting limited ice time. Lets say an extremely selective shooter because his shooting percentages are outstanding and sustained over 2 sample seasons.

The League has to approve any goalie ATO/PTO for ebugs and with the Leafs knowing ahead of time they might need a backup, I doubt they'd approve it, seeing as they'd be skirting a cap hit. Ebugs are pretty much only approved for when two or more goalies are injured in the game or the backup can't make it in time.
Toronto *should* be able to get one of their signed guys in from Winnipeg (Marlies road trip) in on time, and so if it's not Murray, then they'll have to call one of those guys up. If he gets held up in transit and can't make it in time for the game, then ebug, but otherwise, Toronto has to try and get someone under contract on the roster

How long does it take for a bus to go from Winnipeg to a city with an operating airport? :sarcasm:

Marlies may be bussing it, but for a callup, the Leafs could fly him in on the next flight
Hopefully the Marlies took 3 goalies on the trip though, or else they'd need an ebug, cause if someone gets called up, they're not making it back in time lol!

Uber could probably do it if they left now.
I drove from Thunder Bay to London in 1975 in one day, and hopefully the roads are better now. Okay, one day and night, and morning, but I think it was less than 24 hours.

That drive feels like forever. Did Thunder Bay to Windsor, and felt like I should’ve been in Arizona by the time I pulled in the driveway

Yeah, that was the feeling I was getting at around 02:00 on day 2.

The drive from Victoria to Thunder Bay seemed shorter, though I did sleep over twice. Got a hotel in Saskatchewan, in this sleazy hotel, above a bar, and I guess it wasn't a family friendly hotel because every couple hours someone was opening my door with a fresh set of keys ...


So Grebenkin / Grebyonkin is 2nd. on his team for PPG.

Has the size to put some weight on.

Our problem is we tend to grab a lot of cheap UFA'S for depth in the off-season and have a bunch of good prospects trending well we could throw contracts at as well

So that 50 man contract limit becomes a pain in the ass, were being penalized for doing a good job as an organization
I can understand why it's there but it's not helping an organization like ours

We could have worse "problems" I guess

I almost agree with you. His big hits and battles in front of the net just don't drive his corsi. Can't have anyone big that hits, its bound to offend some posters

I may not be giving Voit and Hirvonen enough credit. I think you can argue them at 4 and 5. But I think Moldenhauer, Tverberg and Grebyonkin project a little better.

I think you can go 14 deep in terms of some sort of NHL potential. After than it becomes a bit of a wild card.
