It was on 32 thoughts. Not really a surprise. He won't get a chance here
Ya I think it's entirely fair that he'd want a look. There is absolutely no path to the NHL in the Leafs organization. We don't need another offensive defensemen.

I assume Kyle will honor his wishes, which I can totally get behind.

I know some people don't like Dusak on here, but I actually think he is a pretty solid player IMO. I've always thought he is a standout in most games. I would not be surprised to see him succeed if given the right opportunity. It just would never happen in Toronto with Sandin and Reilly filling that role already

duszak lining up as 4th line RW

See now part of me thinks Toronto brass must really like Joey as a player/person TBH. I don't see any reason why they'd be moving him to forward other then to find a more NHL suitable progression for him. I think him playing D in the NHL would be a reach for him on almost every NHL roster, so maybe they are trying to see what they have in Joey as a grinding forward. He's always played with a good edge IMO, he has the offensive ability to contribute.

It's a complete long shot, but I think what this looks to me is that the Leafs want to make 100% sure they are not letting him go without exploring his potential elsewhere in the lineup.

Either that, or a prospective buyer called and asked "can he play forward?"

But this isn't the first time they have tried it with Joey

Thought it would be worth mentioning that Niemela is still out, been 5 games now or 2-ish weeks I'd say. Regardless, I've been looking this entire time and still haven't seen or heard a thing about it anywhere, zero updates or mentions.

The feed during the game didn't pick it up as I'm sure most know, so can't really make a good guess of what it is. Based on how he was skating back to bench after and knowing it was likely from a net front battle, I'm almost certain it's upper-body, maybe shoulder/wrist?

Karpat is falling down standings (barely hanging on to pl'offs) so I'm sure they'd want him back ASAP. Also worth noting they brought in two new D in the last two weeks, one before the injury and one afterwards. Not sure if that suggests anything long-term, but let's hope to see him back soon... Feel for the kid, was scoring at a record-setting pace and having a great year overall. Hope he can get back for pl'offs and then show us what he's made of in Canada at WJC this August. I still think that this kid could sign his ELC this summer and shock us come October.

Also, I think it would be a mistake to trade him unless it's a star D with term coming back at a great price, something that we have to pull the trigger on. I can't justify moving on from a prospect of this caliber especially on the backend, even without a decently large frame. I see top pairing upside in Niemela, I think he'll be an all situations NHL player in the future, but could 100% be off with my assessment. Likewise I personally can't justify moving Knies for similar upside reasons.

Rindell has been back with Karpat now as 7th Dman for 3 games too.

I don't think anyone did not like him. He has improved his game a lot and he was always a good offensive producer.

I just don't think he is an NHL player. What he is right now is pretty much what I expected his ceiling to be, and at the time of the signing, I questioned why we would spend a contract on that.

He's looked good, but simply hasn't won a spot over other players yet, and needs to really do something impressive if he wants to

That said, he's exactly the type of player that I can see going elsewhere, cracking an NHL lineup, contributing for a bit, and then people losing their minds because Dubas traded him

Another poor effort from the Marlies.

It actually would have been a good time for Gogolev to be on the Marlies rather than Zach O'Brien.
In all fairness they had 6 PP's against 2, and there were no 5v5 goals scored in the game. Abbotsford scored 3 PP goals.

But it's definitely falling back into that early season and prior patterns.

Marlies should be at .500 right now. The team is poorly coached.

.. and despite having nowhere to go, he will probably go somewhere, do ok, and someone will post a thread about how our management is so terrible losing trades.

I'm surprised we haven't seen one or two undrafted prospects snatched up. There are still a few out there that could be good pickups.

NCAA teams are still playing. At least the good ones are anyways. I think some of the crappy guys are starting to sign but the worthwhile NCAA guys are still playing.

Same applies for Euros. It usually picks up in April. That is when KHL contracts expire, and that is when NCAA tournaments are usually done.

13. Robertson

Where would Holmberg and Abruzzesse slot on the depth chart when they make their way over?

Ahead of Seney and Clifford, behind Robertson and Anderson.

Clifford shouldn't even be on the depth chart.

Tried to base it on time spent in the NHL lineup this year (when healthy). And I forgot Steeves... Basically wondering if they get NHL games this season, acknowledging Abruzzesse doesn't have a contract yet.

Might get a few, but I think it is more likely they are keys for the Marlies run if anything.
