Going to be 26 at the start of the season, 300+ NHL games at this point playing likely above where he should be, but has alot of likeable qualities. Lots of smoke out there that teams are calling about him. He has 1 year left then is a UFA.

What does his value look like?

For me, it starts with a 1st round pick to get me to consider moving him. Otherwise, it's just not worth the effort.

I think the Leafs 23OA is for sure in play if it fills a need which he would. IDK what else the package might look like if anything

I would personally be great with Ferraro for 23rd overall straight up. The Leafs had been interested in trading for Kunin as well. If that's accurate and you're into that as well, I'd do Ferraro and Kunin for #23 and a 3rd in 2026 or something like that.

I’d probably do that straight up if I’m SJ. Maybe add a contract to balance it out

Where do you guys think he slots in on a contenders defense? Can he hold his own on a 2nd pair?

Switch Kunin out and just Ferraro + #33 for Leafs Liljegren + Robertson + 3rd rounder(2026). That's fair deal.

I'd do 23rd overall + kampf for Ferraro. Cap in and cap out is close, sharks add a solid depth center and 23rd overall.

If he's available Colorado should be involved. Would fit our team so well, and could open the door for the Avs to let Toews run the 2nd pairing and have Cale and Ferarro reunited as a top pairing where Ferarro probably fairs way better in the role with Cale as his partner.

Mid-sized, mid-caliber defenseman who's -69 over the last two seasons is worth a 1st nowadays?

Give me a f'ng break..
As an Avs fan yes, easily worth a 1st.

Ferraro has the be the most difficult player in the league to get a handle on value-wise.

On one hand, he hasn’t been very good for the last couple years. But on the other, he’s been playing 22+ minutes a night in a #1D role on a f***ing horrible team. If he were deployed in a role more fitted to his ability (ie a middle-pairing role with 1st unit PK and second unit/filler second PP only) with a partner who can move the puck alright, he could be really solid. He’s only 26 and an absolute warrior, in addition to being really well-liked in the room and having leadership qualities. His contract is extremely reasonable in both term and AAV.

You don’t trade for Ferraro if you think he’s only as good as his analytical results in the last couple years, you trade for Ferraro if you see a middle-pairing two-way D who is gonna go to war for you in the playoffs.

If he does end up traded, I’ll be fascinated to see the return.

Mario Ferraro is the only player I've ever seen who's undervalued only by his own team's fanbase.

Maybe for the leafs  that’s horrible for SJ. I highly doubt you’re getting Ferraro for fair value. He’s the only dman on our team that should be slotted above third pair at this moment.

Fine just Liljegren and Robertson for Ferraro then. Two for 1 deal!

I think he can hold his own on a 2nd pair if he's got a similarly capable 2nd pairing defenseman.

If your proposal is Ferraro + 33 for Liljegren, Robertson, and a 3rd, I'll pass. I'm not moving Ferraro for anything less than a 1st round caliber asset and neither of those players are that.

How is that worse? I took out higher pick. Liljegren is about Ferraro's value by himself then throwing in Robertson who can get you 15+ goals probably closer to 20 if he plays majority.
I prefer Ferraro’s hard-nosed high energy playstyle to Liljegren. Robertson doesn’t have any value to the Sharks, we already have a nearly identical player in Bordeleau who might not even have a spot on the team next year.

I am not saying you guys do the deal but come on now.. Robertson is in another tier than Bordeleau. He's out produced him at every level, and this year on a stacked Leafs team where he played bottom 6 minutes with no PP time he still managed to produce at a 20 goal pace.
