I was looking at his stats last weekend and I was somewhat surprised he only had 10 goals so far, meanwhile racking assists. I don't know this stats stuck in my mind.. Well since then he scored 6 goals in 3 games.

6 goals in 9 shots nonetheless.

It was surprising he only had 10 goals as recently as a week ago. Not surprised to see him catch fire like this. He's still a very good player at times, but he can't quite go beast mode 95% of the time like he could 5 or 6 years ago.

His shooting % is in the toilet.

That said, if the market correction happens entering the playoffs, and he rockets to 12% or whatever his career average is when the games matter most, I won't complain at all.

Was thinking the same thing last week.

And just like that he's on pace for 24.

Just looked at his hockey DB page, what an amazing career.

Same here, I was surprised how few goals he had scored and ... boom, he starts scoring.

From the Hawks games I've seen I haven't noticed much of a drop in his play, if any. I think we can mostly chalk these numbers up to bad luck thus far.

no, there's been a definite drop off in his play from the offensive side of the game. Until this stretch of goals, his finishing was pretty atrocious for most of the season.

the problem with HFboards is that nobody watches the games. You all focus on stats and it's like some weird stat fanclub. Actually watch the games and you'll see that he's a huge difference maker out on the ice.

That's kind of the point. There's a lot of luck involved in finishing. Shooting percentage fluctuates a ton over the course of a season.

He was always generating a ton of chances 5on5, it was only a matter of time before they started going in.

I have a suspicion he had a nagging injury earlier in the season, he didn't seem as strong on the puck as usual. He also some bad luck finishing/goalies robbing him blind.

Hossa has good stats outside of points as well, which is why it certainly is important to watch the games instead of just reading the score sheet.

According to sportingcharts.com he's tied for 8th in the league in puck takeaways, tied for 27th in shots on goal. And while he isn't scoring a whole lot of goals this season, he is still 3rd in points on the Blackhawks. He certainly offers a lot outside of scoring.

This. Hossa is day in and day out one of, if not the hardest working Blackhawk. Such a pleasure to watch. :handclap:
