There have been a lot rumors that Marco Rossi might be on the trade block. Both Hynes (HC) and Guerin (GM) don't seem to be big fans of Rossi. Besides Kaprizov and Gustavsson are gonna get huge raises next season, Rossi could be the odd man out due cap reasons.

Rossi had a good rookie campaign (All-Rookie team 2024) and is almost a PPG player in his current sophomore season (6g + 11a = 17p in 20 games) so far.

What would your team give up for him? Whats his value in your opinion?

I havent heard the rumors but minney seems pretty deep so I'm not surprised they could use Rossi as bait for futures or immediate help

It depends on what Wild is looking for, if he's available at all.

Wild are losing $13-million of dead cap space on the Suter and Parise contracts next year.

Kaprizov and Gustavsson are signed through this season and next.

I don't see any urgency to trade Rossi.

Is he a bit of an undersized centre?

His 5v5 scoring rate is on pace with some of the best Cs in the NHL and his defensive acumen is promising as well. The issue is that the Wild FO appear to slight him in his deployment. For example, has been stapled to the awful PP2 unit his whole career.

I think he will sign an extension here. Maybe a bridge deal. But Russo has been beating the “FO doesn’t love Rossi” drum for awhile now and there be something to it.

If he is moved, it’s because the FO thinks Yurov is a lock to be a Top 6 C next fall or that they can move Rossi for a bigger C who fits their timeline.

What's the catch with Rossi ?

Cause well I don't see him play very often, but just looking at stats, he seems like one of the best Minn players. And he's only 23.

Is it because he's smallish, or because his salary will understandably increase ?

What's the catch, why is he in most Minn proposals ?

I don't see them moving their 23 year old top 6 centre. But if they are shopping Rossi, the Flames should be looking into it.

Yeah but they already have Faber and Spurgeon on the right side so they don’t have a need for Andersson. Not sure there’s a package the flames could put together that makes sense for Minny, and I doubt Rossi is even available tbh

No catch really. He's good young top 6 C, thats good in all 3 zones. Something the Wild have needed for basically ever.

Despite that, there is belief mostly pushed by Russo(although I should mention that he said in a radio hit that he doesn't agree with the Wilds thinking) that the wild aren't ready to commit to him long term. The reasons for that are unclear, but seem to be a combination of he's on the smaller side, they think Yurov will be better and then Rossi would be 3C, he'd command to much money.

All the reasons people come up with seem silly to me. If Yurov is better, I'm not sure there is a C in the game that can't play wing. And last I counted you need 6 top 6 forwards.

Top six offensive centers
:laugh::laugh:

I don't get moving Rossi, at all. He has worked like a dog the past two summers to improve his strength and speed, and it's worked. He'll never be a speedster, or a physical beast, but he doesn't get knocked off the puck like he used to, and is able to play around the net, not just on the perimeter. He's quick, skilled, and very smart. He is already a #2C, and I wouldn't bet against him being a #1 in a year or two, though not an elite one.

Why trade him when MN needs offensively talented Centers, and are limited in Cap space till next year? He makes peanuts relative to his production, is 23 yo, and improving... what's not like?

Also, MN is not a rebuilding team whose window is in the future. They are looking to be competitive now, while Kaprizov is in his prime, Zucc, spurgeon, and Brodin still have juice(and tesitcles) left, and Boldy, Faber, Buium, and Rossi are just entering their primes. Next year their Cap penalties will be gone(mostly), allowing them to compete against the top teams on an equal basis for the first time in years. Why trade for futures?
