What would the Wild want? Zary and one of our firsts this season to begin the convo? What else must we add? Outside of Dustin Wolf, Coronato, Weegar, Andersson, and Parekh, there's nothing else that's untouchable for the add for Rossi.

The Wild are looking to compete now. I don't see any reason they would trade Rossi for a downgrade unless they don't want to pay what Rossi is asking. In that scenario, I would hope they trade for a better C on a rebuilding team.
If the best offer is Zary and a late 1st I'd rather they not trade him at all.

A downgrade and a late 1st…..Zary was in the same draft as Rossi iirc Zary went 24 the and Rossi was top 10 or so

Eh, don't think you're going to get much traction out of this with most Wild fans. His trajectory has been on the up for most of the season and it looks like he's still got plenty of headroom. He's (unfortunately) been bounced all over the lines, seemingly by no fault of his own through his play. Just seems to be some weird disconnect with Hynes. And he's still been able to produce. If he gets put on a stable line with quality linemates, he's going to be amazing. After waiting for what most Wild fans think is far past due, apparently Guerin finally reached out to Rossi's agent and said they are no longer looking to trade him.

So, I wouldn't even be able to humor you with a reasonable yes or no, just based on the fact I've close to zero idea of what the Flames have the Wild would need. And just based on the paragraph above, I don't think I'd put the effort into looking into it. I think it'd have to be a pretty uncomfortable overpay by Calgary to get a deal done.

Why would the Wild wait for Rossi to develop into a pretty nice player just to trade him now? Really doesn’t make sense.
wild aren't trading Rossi. They are contenders this year and it's not happening. Rossi is our 1c, so no. Wild are looking to buy and not trade their 1c.
Lol Eriksson Ek is beyond untouchable. In not a billion years he's getting traded. He also has no trade. Rossi and Ek are off limits

Don't be. He's going nowhere. Especially with the extremely cap friendly deal he's on. He's essentially the heart & soul of the team.

Fundamental problem with this, is that any reason the Flames would want Rossi...is exactly why the Wild wouldn't want to move him. They're both looking for the same sort of thing. So it doesn't make any sense for Minnesota to move Rossi for anything other than part of a package to actually upgrade on him. Which Calgary can't really offer.
I'm not really all that enamored with any of Cozens, Mittelstadt, Rossi. Especially after just acquiring Frost. Good useful NHLers sure but don't really feel any of them have top line C type futures ahead of them and probably all cost at least one significant asset. McTavish or Carlsson on the other hand it would be a very short list of things I would not have available. I wonder if something could be worked out for Hayton out of Utah.
Really if they're getting a C in a trade I'd rather it be a vet like Kadri or Andersson for a pkg that included a prospect like Cal Ritchie.

Kadri has several years left and he’s 34. He was also signed by the previous GM. Mittelstadt is in his 20s, makes less, and only has two years after this. That’s the value in a Mittelstadt for Kadri trade. You get out of, what is likely to be, a poorly aging contract and substitute it with a younger player on a shorter deal.
Ritchie? Wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which fills up first.
By the way, why are you bringing this up in a thread about Rossi and Zary?

Rossi feels like someone the Wild would trade in addition to other assets if they wanted to go big game hunting for the type of player who rarely comes available. Not for lesser pieces than him for a team (and front office) who really needs to see significant improvements coming out of a buyout period where they knowingly handcuffed themselves. This team needs to take another step or all jobs will be at risk. Granted, Guerin does march to the best of his own drum to some degree so who knows.
JEE is on one of the best contracts in all the league and is a hell of a player. The Wild have no incentive to move him. Return would need to be massive to get their attention.

I can't think of any reason that MN would trade an ascendant Rossi. Why trade for a lesser player? MN's cap penalties are off next year. and will finally allow them to compete on a level playing field with the rest of the league. Trading for futures makes no sense for them.
To put it more clearly, even if CAL made Parekh available, MN would not make the trade. They have a robust young D core, with Faber as a two way RHD, Buium coming as soon as this spring, and, hopefully Jiricek to go with Spurgeon, Brodin, and Middleton. I mean, if you think Coronato is untouchable in a trade for Rossi, then I have to wonder about your sense of player values.

I'd be down for trading Rossi + for a better C of the same age(sorta like what the OP proposed in reverse), but who is going to do that?
Kadri is much better than Mittelstadt. I very much doubt Mittelstadt ever comes close to Kadri's totals from last season, he's just not that good. Pushed off the puck with ease. Really no reason for the Flames to be desperate to get rid of Kadri, he's been good here mostly and they don't have the centers internally to replace him. They have the 2nd most cap space in the league right now and aren't under any contention window like the Avalanche are. If he is traded within the next year I expect this board will be surprised at how much value he holds.
This is a thread about the Flames targeting a young center. Cozens and Mittelstadt are two that are on the market that I would not be that interested in. Rossi I don't think there's been much indication he's on the market but he'd be another I don't think the juice would be worth the squeeze. That's why I'm bringing it up.
