Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Bittersweet because Staal has been a Ranger since 2005 and he seems like a great guy off the ice, but man, he sucked. He's been absolutely awful ever since the injury by his older brother.
But Staal is a warrior. That eye injury could've ended many careers.

I wonder if Hank is on his way out via retirement and Staal decided that it would be best to move on.
Of course, if they ride out Hank and trade Geo, I'd be more than Okay with that.

Don't know what specific moves may be aligned with this deal, but it certainly seems like something that was done knowing that there were specific next steps to come on all sides (NYR, DET, Staal).

Detroit fan here. Even with how he's played the last couple of seasons he's an upgrade over most of what we have, so we're glad to take him. Good vet, and everything I've read he seems like a good guy off the ice too. We're glad to take him off your hands.
Also, if you want to throw us a 3rd rounder we'd take Brendan Smith back as well.

5.7m is a big chunk of change. They can do a lot. Maybe get a better LHD. Maybe get DeAngelo done long term. A lot of options. Makes it less tight to squeeze.

It's Zibanejad's entire extension.
They probably have something BIG brewing for this season I imagine. Why else waste the pick? We are not winning without adding a few pieces and Staal’s contract up in a year.

No he isn't. Trust me when I say this, you literally just picked up the worst regular D in the league. His numbers away from DeAngelo were LOL worthy.
But he is a good guy off the ice and the room seemed to love him.
