I wonder if Staal ever gets sick of this (and by that I mean the injuries not the fan bitching) and considers hanging them up. He's been healthy scratched now and the writing is on the wall... father time waits for no man. Maybe he plays out whatever is left of this season after this and then he's done?

I'm not happy that Staal is injured, but I'm very happy that he's not playing. The team improves by removing some of the garbage from the lineup.

He should've retired years ago, but I can understand if he tries to ride out his contract. He's getting paid millions for being bad at his job.

Girardi has already retired, Staal should do the same.

Would Staal accept a move too the Wild ?

Could take Foligno and Pateryn ?

Is Foligno considered overpaid?

Fun fact: by the end of this season Staal will likely have more Ranger games on his record than Lundqvist.

No Rangers player has ever frustrated me more and made me feel such disdain for someone I don't even know.
Not Holden.
Not Glass.
Not Moore.
Not Pyatt.
Not Johnny Malkin.
Not twilight-years Girardi.
Not even STU BICKEL.
This lumbering oaf gives me agita and I'm not even Italian.

It is amazing how many times his hesitation and inability to play and move the puck leads to dangerous opportunities for the opposition.

Disdain for a guy who gave his heart, soul, health and a friggin' eye to a team you root for?

We all know that he is not much more suited than to be a 7th defenseman at this point. But really? This type of vitriol?

Once I saw him topple over last night like a Jenga tower I lost it. I agree he was a great soldier for a decent period of his career, but that time is long gone and just seeing the utter incompetence infuriates me. I cannot tell you the last time I saw him win a board battle. Or get a meaningful shot on net. Or do anything that makes me go "Hmm. That was actually a really good play, y'know what? Staal had a real good game today!"

Still does not warrant such vitriol. The guy have everything he had to this team. Want him retired all you want, but that can be discussed with a modicum of respect.

Can we respect the person but hate the player?

Because I think thats what the OP was trying to get at.
People are entitled their opinion and can do what they want, of course.

Disdain: the feeling that someone or something is unworthy of one's consideration or respect; contempt.

You may not like Staal now. But considering his service to the franchise, he certainly deserves your respect.

I'm sure this is how most people feel. Staal is awful and has been awful for a while. Is there anyone who actually enjoys watching him play?

Service? He lost his eye getting paid exorbitant sums to play hockey, not parachuting into enemy territory.
