Post-Game Talk: MAPLE LEAFS WIN THE STARS! (KÄLLGREN IS THE NEW KING OF THE LEAFS!)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
The one good thing that stands out about Kallgren is his calmness.

He might be an AHL goalie and inexperienced but he's naturally calm in the net.

In comparison, both Campbell and Mrazek have exaggerated movement patterns even when they're doing well. It's probably one of the reasons they end up going on such long cold streaks.

I thought Mikheyev had a strong game. I know the finish isn't there, and probably won't ever be, but when he's got that jump in his step, his speed makes him really effective. I'd like to see it more consistently.

Tavares looked better tonight too. Some are saying its playing with Marner, but I thought Nylander looked better away from Tavares too. I think the second line is just not working as is and it is dragging down every guy on it. How to fix that without breaking up the Bunting/Matthews/Marner trio, I don't know.

And obviously, great start for Kallgren. Nice to get some needed goaltending.

So this is what it feels like to get NHL level goaltending
That’s what they’ve been looking for for so long, it’s hard to play a steady game when in the back of your head is the fear that every puck bobble or fluttering knuckle puck is going to find its way in the back of the net.

Feel good story of the night but pretty sure we all acted this way when woll got his first w than next game he got lit up for 4 and we all said he's not rdy. All this does is prove we need a goaltender

Dude...he scored a goal...Mikheyev scored the goal the only way we thought NOT possible. Meaning we always thought some day he'd score on the breakaway but no...he scored on the random shot at the empty net. He had a great week in my books for that.

It was nice to see goaltending again. It seems to have made EVERYONE responsible. Without Matthews, effort was important tonight. You would have been exposed if you didn't give that effort. That effort alone makes you harder/grittier to play against. It is needed going forward regardless of who's in goal.
