Bro that poster was obviously being sarcastic.

I swear...
So was I. It is just absurdly weird that we start winning againg with Matty out, our top two goalies out, while getting no calls, the 2nd line in a heavy funk ... yet this rallies the team to play a sound and engaged game.

I think I’m comfortable at this point to suggest that Kase-JT-Nylander is probably our 3rd line. As a line, Engval-Kampf-Mikheyev can and already does go up against tougher competition and perform better

3rd line with 2 30/80 guys on it.

Not bad.

I wished they'd always play with that much effort. Great game ftom the buds, especially Marner and EKM.

True to some point. Yet the puck that Engval put exquisitely behind the goalie but still through the crease ... Mikheyev is probably the only one to copy that without effort. Effort they are but I if you count on them to score you are lost. And yes the expectation of danger (to score) changes your opponents reaction/anticipation. With Mikhy the other teams players might just walk for a change. When Matty is on a breakaway they better hustle or be benchened for a couple of shifts. Rightfully so.

Eh we gave up like 3 2v1s, and like 5 grade A scoring chances in the first 10 minutes. Not sure if that strategy is working how it's supposed too.
Ya Keefe can preach patience all he wants it's never the plan to start a game down in shots 11-1.

That being said I think we played a fantastic team game and the effort was visible from top to bottom.

If we complain about this one than there really is no pleasing this fan base.

does JT have some weird mental block that only allows him to play like a 1C if he's literally on the first line? I know there's a Marner effect but he just looks like a completely different player. Confident with the puck, not lumbering around... He's gotta get over whatever this is because we need him at this level to be a real contender.
Marner stirs the drink. JT needs him more than Matthews does.

Errr.. that first goal wasn't nice, he should have had that one. His job is to take the shot and trust that his defense has the pass, especially because they were in decent position to make a play.

The second was a nicely placed shot from Marner .. I'd have to see if Andy was off his angle on a replay.

The third was nice and a difficult one to stop but seeing Andy slide a across like that on his belly leaving the top half of the net open seemed all too familiar
The play on the first goal was very fast paced and nice so it's not that much of a softie. Make play like that and high chance shot go in as long as don't shoot at the logo

The one thing I've noticed is that most players seemed a lot more physical for some reason. Clifford is making me eat major crow because he's been a big time forechecker. I hope he can keep it up.
What we saw against the Canes was how coach Keefe would prefer the team to play (VERY reminiscent of what Babcock wanted).

Dubas, on the other hand, believes who-knows-what stats that suggest turn-aways and fly-bys, basically no contact hockey, somehow results in a greater chance of winning. We have all witnessed this philosophy being applied through two totally different coaches and umpteen player changes, including tough guys who suddenly didn't finish checks or play with violence anymore.

Keefe's game plan over-rode Dubas preferred tactics. Coach has had enough of trying to institute a failed philosophy.

A line that can take on heavy competition through defensive ability without a high level of offense is a shutdown line, which is almost universally seen as a 3rd line.

That’s not Dubas’ philosophy at all.
Swing and a miss my friend

You should actually listen to the man speak instead of just criticizing him for your jaded perception of the fact he values analytics as a tool contributing to building a team

Andersen out dueled by an AHLer . Shocking
That was what I was thinking too .. Fredddddddyyyyyyyy .. Fredddddddyyyyyyyyyyyy .. 2 games against us and 2 bad back breaking goals against .. Mik's and Mitch's last game .. OMG best move Dubie made to let that loser go .. he is one of those drive for show and PUTT for sh*t kinda guys .. big long 300+ yard drivers and then 3 putts for bog or worse .. as i have noted he will sink Canes in playoffs .. Rod just doesn't understand fully yet

Yup, Freddy looking at the stats, and his play in general, is a VERY good goalie... and yet, he still let's in that soft goal when it counts. That is the way.

The first goal that Freddie let in is the reason why he was always a problem here
It probably should've been saved, but that wasn't his problem here, he was always one of the better goalies in the league during the regular season and choked in the playoffs.
