I agree. There hasn't been nearly as many deflections, tips and bad bounces lately and Kallgren is under control.

I definitely agree with this. No denying our goalie hasn't been great but our defense wasn't exactly playing their part either. I think its the protect the young kid mentality that's also kind of light a fire under the teams ass.

Shally is doing his job, only needs to make the saves he needs to make...which can't be said for Mrazek/Campbell.

That's true. In fairness though, the team has played a committed defensive game the last two games. Both games they gave up early two on ones and then settled doiwn.

Our goalie kept the game scoreless in the first after their onslaught, the rest of the game the team were all back, taking their man, blocking shots, keeping the Canes at arms length.


These last two games reminded me of the two they played against the Oilers last year when they held McDavid off the scoresheet. I think Matthews wss out for one of those games as.well.

I don't know, but I can be patient, see 1 game at a time and see where it goes. Decent goaltending has such a calming, positive influence on the whole team and coaching. I've enjoyed these last 2 games and look forward to Saturday. Sure I would have started Kallgren in the Heritage Classic, but at least it demonstrated to the decision makers that Mrazek isn't the guy right now. Kallgren can give us breathing room until Campbell gets better and Mrazek can get his shit together.

We deserved the win, but having said that the Canes missed a couple of glorious wide open opportunities in the first 10 minutes. We played great team D and Kallgren didn't need a 10 bell save to secure us the game. Marner played Hard as did Bunting, JT, Mik, and William. Kallgren played with no errors that is all we should ask from our goalie.

Where's all the hockey experts telling us it's definitely the team defence that's shit, and no way it's the sub .900 goaltending letting in floaters ? It's amazing how the team defence has changed so drastically by simply swapping Mrazek out for an AHL goalie. Give Kallgren the norris ?

All we need is an average NHL goalie that's it, not elite, just average. We get that and we win most nights.

I would still like to see the Leafs make a move for Gio and/or Middleton. If not, someone similar in play and style.
