I think it’s also Matthews taking another step as a superstar player and the gap widening that way. They’re supposed to be a 1-2 punch but aren’t even in the same league.

That's true too. One on the way up and the other declining.

There's a prime example...Kerfoot is 10 feet inside his blueline...turns back and gives the puck to a team mate in a bad position...The puck goes deeper into our zone and luckily we escaped with no damage done..They do this far too often.
