GDT: Maple Leafs vs Panthers

Great first. Not so great second but still I don't put any goal on jack.

He'll need to come up big in the 3rd a couple times at least but I think the Leafs got it in them. Overall not a bad road game.

More pucks to the net and win more faceoffs.

Maybe a call or two .... wishful thinking.

Disappointing period. Main problem is clearing the zone we’re way too weak and slow making a play. I thought we played alright though had some good looks and their second goal was very lucky.

One thing the high skill Leafs struggle with is making crisp clean distance passes, especially from the blueline. They’re a high skill team but rely on ragging the puck over long distances more than stretching out the ice, zipping it around and covering the 200 feet that way. Even though their personnel are pretty quick, they lose a lot speed manually carrying which makes them vulnerable to more body on body and turnovers.

At 7-8 I think it’s passable

He is a player who can take face offs, play the front of the net, and bang in goals

At 11 million, he needs to actually win games almost single handedly.

Sadly kerfoot won us more games then he has

Tavares sucks. Dude can’t do anything anymore except face offs. He’s strong down low but can’t create. So frustrating that he is our captain but is not good enough to put the team on his back. He just exists and puts up points here and there. At the end of the day he does not stir the drink
 
Why is it that every time I look at the stats sheet, it shows the second line as a minus? Tavares... minus.

He's also been the cause of 3-4 of the too many men on the ice penalties this season of the 9 they've had.

f***ing useless.

The Leafs were victim to the classic Hueberdive, which always makes an appearance when they need a change of momentum. It must be nice for the officiating and league agenda to be at the ready to pump your tires.

This game is another reason I'll be done watching the NHL for awhile after the playoffs.

The NHL is creaming themselves over the prospect of another cup coming to Florida. The game against Tampa 2 days ago is a horrible sign to come for how our series against them will be officiated. NHL 100% wants Panthers vs Lightning rematch in the 2nd round this year and there's no f***ing way they're gonna let the Leafs get in the way.

Florida's going to have to go through Washington to make it, though, and if it becomes really obvious that the NHL is calling bullshit to help Florida, I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson takes direct shots at Huberdeau and Barkov...

I’m not a Tavares guy at all but I think a lot of the problem stems from Dubas and company not taking more care in building a line that suits Tavares’ skills. Give him a primary puck carrier (let’s say a Jordan Eberle) and another big body digger who can play a cycle game, and give him line mates who can do a little give and go, short distance area plays, quick cut backs and collapse to the net for dirty goals then I think we’re speaking Tavares’ language.

I just don’t think he’s a superstar who you can just throw out there and expect him to play any situation any which way. You gotta almost create a ball hockey environment where straight line skating is taken out of the equation.

Hey guys just in case you didn't notice Guy Lafleur died.

CBC hasn't talked about it much because I assume all 3 Habs fans watching a Leafs Panthers game instead of the Habs Sens game may not have noticed either.

Maybe they could find a video clip of Sundin and Lafleur on the ice together with the 1991 Nordiques. Some Leafs fans might actually care about and not know
