Manchester Monarchs say this season was their last
The Manchester Monarchs announced Wednesday they have played their last game.
The Monarchs organization announced on its website that this past season was the hockey team's last.
"After many years of investment and financial support, first from the Los Angeles Kings organization and ultimately by a subsequent investor group, and after seeking assistance from the city, state and the (SNHU) Arena, we have collectively decided this was our final season," the team said.
SNHU Arena officials said they were surprised by the news.
"We are still processing the news we recently were made aware of via the team's website," said Tim Bechert, senior general manager. "The arena has consistently ranked within the Top 10 of venues our size. We have a strong event year ahead, with more opportunity now for additional concerts, trade shows, family shows and other sporting events."

bummer but i'm not all that surprised, losing the AHL affiliation is rough, ECHL is tough sledding

How will this work for the Kings as far as their ECHL affiliation goes?

They'll just find somewhere else to loan out players, its not really a big deal in that regard, several teams don't have an ECHL affiliate as it is and even the ones that do only send 3-4 guys down there. 50 SPC limit doesn't really leave much room to support a 3rd team. There's a handful of guys on the Reign who are on AHL deals and not prospects. Worst case scenario you cut 1 or 2 of those guys to make room.

We finish 2nd to dead last in the entire NHL.
Then we get the worst possible outcome in the 5th overall pick.
And now we loose the Manchester Monarchs...?

Overall, I'd say it was a fantastical 2019 if you are a Kings fan, especially if you include the piece of shit last season of Game of Thrones. :thumbu:

Don’t forget, the Ontario Reign also finished dead last in the AHL.
