They've been through how many coaches the last 14 years? At some point you're going to have to look at something else than just a coaching change.

It all starts from the very top. If the owner is ok with losing, then that mentality will trickle down all the way through the entire organization.

I'm an oilers fan and our saying was: Fire them all to be safe when talking about our boys on the bus management system. So I get it.

Get some sand paper or is an irritant...someone like Sam Bennett or Hartman. Maybe a younger version like Greig or Bunting. Target guys from teams that have a history of consistency like Boston, if Boston makes guys available. Get a coach that’s better at activating offense like Quenneville or Brunell (if he’s fired...weird fit for an older team).

I think that would be a good place to start. Same problem in Detriot/Montreal/Ottawa/Nashville.... all teams that should be better than they are but their center depth is not up to the job

Stützle, Norris & Pinto theoretically and on paper should be enough. I honestly don’t know why it isn’t, but something needs to change.

I get all three haven’t been in the line-up, but best ability is availability.

As a Sabres fan I can safely say that is an impossible task with Terry Pegula running the show. They would need to severely overpay a President or GM to come in and Pegula would need to stay out of the way. Neither is happening.

It starts with Pegula hiring a president, that president hiring a GM, that GM getting Ruff REAL assistants. Maybe if you do that the league will at least look differently at the Sabres.

You need core veterans to lead the young team. It starts with a top 6 Center, a top 4 defensemen, and probably a top 6 winger. Realistically, you have to trade for all of these.

1ST 25, 1ST 26, Kulich, Ostlund, Rosen, Helenius. With some extra quarters you can acquire all 3 with these pieces. Joker Krebs and Kulich gone open up those roster spots. There is flexibility to use Peterka/Quinn for true top-level talent but feels like selling too low at this point in the season. I just want additions and push players down.

Then patience. They have the youngest team in the league by a fair amount. This isn’t Gm mode on the Xbox. It’s almost impossible to win that way

Thats the mindset that led to trading Eichel. You have young talent, they just need to marinate. Otherwise your only options are are another rebuild or moving guys like Byram & Benson for less than they are worth
