People keep saying stuff like this...it's nonsense...did u actually watch game btwn USA and T Euro? ...Dont wanna keep harping on this, BUT Euros had like six odd man, including a 2 on 0 breakaway, in first period alone...Except for a few times on pp , Yanks never seriously threatened.

SOmetimes shots are NOT a good indicator of which team actually dominated the game...Euro was the dominant team throughout sans doubt..Ergo this is one of those times where shot totals are TOTALLY MISLEADING

No I didn't actually get to watch it, so I admit ignorance on that one. But generally if you double the shots you've done something right with possession, etc.

And the odd man rushes and breakaways etc are a sign of poor coaching, not necessarily bad players. Honestly that US roster is just as good as the European roster on paper.

Byfuglien is a MUCH better hockey player than Niskanen. Eric Johnson isnt bad.

In: SULLIVAN head coach, Bylsma Assistant. T. Johnson, Kessel, Okposo, Faulk, Shattenkirk.

Out: TORTORELLA Backes, Abdelkader, Palmieiri J. Johnson, Niskanen.

Parise Pavelski Kane
Wheeler Johnson Kessel
Pacioretty Stepan Okposo
JVR Kesler Oshie
Dubinsky

Mcdonough Carlson
Suter Faulk
Shattenkirk E. Johnson
Byfuglien

Quick
Bishop
Schneider

Thats a really good hockey team.

I like this one the best

None of these D pairings have Seth Jones on it. He'd def. be able to help out Team USA on the back end. Our best is yet to come with some of the guys on the current US roster but with the players on the NA team as well. Not to mention the kids coming up through the junior ranks/NTDP right now. That's where you're seeing the fruit of our labor. When all these guys get a little older and represent the main U.S. squad we will be one of the picks to win it.

I think we're all assuming that we have to play by the same rules (no Jones, Eichel, Gaudreau).

As nice as it would have been to see Kessel on this roster, I don't think he'd have been available anyway because he's still recovering from surgery he had earlier in the summer. Tyler Johnson's absence is a lot more immediately glaring to me.

USA has always played its best when they try to maximize speed & skill on their roster besides grit is completely useless in a 2 game elimination tournament.

And then you realize there's tons of nations with the exact same scenario...

Sweden: Liljegren, Nylander brothers, etc
Canada: McDavid, Ekblad, Scheifele, Reilly, etc
Finland: Barkov, Laine, Puljujarvi, Ristolainen, etc

You're sort of looking at the potential US team with a pretty narrow view, ignoring the fact that hockey is sprouting in a lot of different countries and there's loads more good players coming in soon.

Not so sure who to go with 3rd pair.

It's too bad they couldn't bring Gaudreau, he'd go straight to 1LW.
