Hockey gods hate Caps, it almost never works for them, I am still shocked they won’t the Cup in 2018 and of course a month later the only head coach that won the cup in 45years gets fired, this year the team looks solid and guess what the top Dman and goalie get injured, it is a miracle Ovi won the Cup

"Blowing a 2-0 lead" is not the same as losing two away games in Montreal without your top 5v5 player, one of your top defensemen, and losing your Vezina caliber goalie lol

A series is never a series until someone loses at home - literally everyone knows that
My guy, this is the top seed vs the youngest team to have ever made the playoffs in NHL history, a team that barely squeaked into the playoffs. The Caps have no business letting this go to 6 games.

Habs fans need to get their narrative straight. One post we're a one man team, the next we're the top seed that should be winning the series in 5 games. Just last year we barely scraped into the playoffs with a negative goal differential, absolutely nobody predicted us to go on a deep playoff run at the beginning of this year. We haven't had arguably our best forward throughout the first 3 games and we've also been missing one of our top 4 D and best PKer. Montreal needed to win game 3 and congrats for doing so, but stop pretending like this is some David vs Goliath situation. It's a close series and in the modern NHL, any team can win on any given night.

At least we've won a cup in the last 30 years.
Yeah, it's really David vs David.

Caps aren't the top seed in the East good.

No idea why Anderson and Wilson got fined. They're trying to make the NHL entertaining since nothing was going on in the playoffs before that.

I agree with this. Montreal was about as dominant as they could have been all game, and the Capitals played about the worst I've seen them all year.

Despite that, and despite the powerplays being 5-2 in Montreals flavor, it was tied up with like 17 minutes left in the game. Caps could have easily sneaked out an undeserving win on their worst game of the season.
Same could be said for the Habs in the first 2 games of this series.

What a powerhouse team
Thanks for letting us win one

I think the caps with Protas, healthy Thompson, and Marty F are definitely the best team in the East. Without? Who knows. They’re really reeling in areas Protas and Fehervary help a lot. Namely calm breakouts of their own zone and puck possession offensively. In addition Protas allows for a little more defensive balance across their lines.

Even with Thompson. Florida,, Toronto, Tampa and probably Montreal have better goaltenders.

It’s interesting to say the team with the greatest goal scorer of all time has less elite talent
It's not such a complicated concept to grasp, imo? Caps had some very fortunate puck luck but other than this it's a pretty even series and the ice has titlted in the Habs favor...

Outside of Ovechkin Habs have superior top tier talent and that talent is still years away from their prime, this team will be scary good in a few years just watch.

Yes you are right, we need to get all millions of us onto a zoom call so we can all make sure we have the same opinions and points of view.

They are very deep when healthy but they definitely lack high end, elite, talent . . . at all positions. But there are different ways to skin a cat.

So in the last 30 years the Caps have won the same number of Cups as Montreal. Congrats.

How do they match up well with Floirida? Panthers are tougher
I think they have better overall D and the PLD line limits Barkov’s impact. I think the other line combos for the Caps force some of their offensive weapons to play more D than they like to. Yes it’s the regular season but they outscored the Panthers 16-7 in their 3 meetings.
