Honestly has anyone ever gone after Ovi? Seems like its accepted league wide to just leave him the hell alone.

He's tougher than your enforcers haha

I remember in some special a player talking about how their plan one series was to rough Ovi up physically. He was like “yeahhh that didn’t go so well. We didn’t try that again”.

Also a clip of Bruce Boudreau telling his players not to hit him. “Let him sleep!!”

Honestly, I don't see why the Habs need Xhekaj, at least not yet. Montreal adapted well to Washington's physicality, played a dominant 3rd period and made the game as close as it gets. Why play Washington's game when Montreal's own game matched up well against the Caps?

If the Habs lose game 2 convincingly by being outmuscled, okay, I can see Xhekaj giving them a shot in the arm. We're not there yet.
I think it's the fact that Montreal got back in because the Capitals played bad for the last 15 minutes, and not because Montreal played exceptional for the last 15 minutes.

If the Caps didn't let their foot off the gas like they did, Montreal wouldn't have scraped back. You want your team to win games by being the team that dominates, not hoping for the other team to get messy/lazy at the end.

Except Montreal has been doing that shit for half a season....

Lane Hutson proved everyone wrong this season. He is a future elite player in the NHL.
Before the season start, everyone made fun of the Habs for suggesting Lane Hutson for the Calder trophy. He has to small for the NHL. He won't survive 20 games in the NHL. He won't score above 30 pts.

The last one: ''He won't survive playoff hockey. He is to small for it.'' 2 points in his first playoff match.

They lost the game so it really doesn’t matter

He also lost his man in front of the net on two of the Caps' three goals. I'm far from a Hutson hater but there was a little bit of everything in G1 from him to fit whatever narrative you want

That’s great and all that you don’t Mr badass but you can’t speak for your hockey team lmao

...they're the youngest team to make the playoffs in decades and came back to make it a game until that OT shift...doesn't seem they are "afraid", just somewhat outmatched by a FAR more veteran team so far...we'll see what Game 2 brings...

Fans like to imagine the game revolves around what their team does, or fails to do, as if the other team is just reacting. A bad period means their team simply stopped trying, or 'took their foot off the gas', or lost focus, or whatever. It couldn't possibly be the other team was better.

The reality last night was both teams pushed, Montreal outplayed Washington in the 3rd, just like Washington outplayed Montreal in the 1st. Washington earned the win, but Montreal made it very close.

What Narrative? Did you honestly expect a rookie player to make 0 mistake in his first playoff game against the best team in the East? It is his first NHL season. He will continue to improve.

Very arrogant

But still with some basis. The Kings did the exact same thing last night with the Oilers, took their foot off the gas in the third period and nearly lost it.

Not to take away from either the Habs or Oilers in not just giving up but continuing to play to the bell and almost winning, when a lot of teams probably would have just moved on to thinking about the next game.

That’s not what happened though, Washington got outplayed
