I won't cry a lot about it, but to me it's either not an icing or it's an interference/cross check penalty. I know Laine is soft, but him getting hit in the back while the pucks passes him doesn't make that play an icing. I have no idea what the rules say though.

The last thing you want is to make Ovechkin angry from a physical perspective.

Your whole top-6 is either small, soft, or both. An angry Ovechkin at any age is going to be bad for your team in that sense.
we don't withdraw upon fear,

fear and "if" is for cowards, we thrive upon guts and balls, game is for the taking

has the replay been posted? i honestly missed the icing/interference sequence

Agreed. This isnt the 80s, Ovi isnt Gretzky. Make him feel it, he is a big boy, he can take it. The way he tackled Caufield yesterday.. he is free game, put him on his ass one time and see Wilson go nuts and we will turn this around.
tackled? it only looked weird because a professional hockey player said nope and tried to back away. Caulfield would have been destroyed had he kept going for the puck but he clearly and rightfully so was scared and backed away.

Literally nobody in your team is capable of putting Ovi on his ass lol.

Who in the league can even do that

Chara and Buff used to be able to knock him down, no monsters like them in the league anymore though.

Honestly has anyone ever gone after Ovi? Seems like its accepted league wide to just leave him the hell alone.

He's tougher than your enforcers haha

It's time to send someone on a suicide mission, and we just happen to have an expendable

Idk how old some of you are but let me tell you this

I've seen the same comments about someone needs to "take out Ovechkin and make him feel it" since 2 thousand and freaking 5.

It's not happening, he thrives off physical play and it'll just make it worse. You're better off just playing solid defense and not leaving the greatest goal scorer to EVER play the game wide open at any point of the game.

Ovechkin is an absolute animal. I make a habit of not angering animals.

Xhekaj can come in and play physical though. We need him to at the very least keep some of the Caps honest.

At the end of the day, we are only going to win this with speed, skill, good goaltending and a little bit of luck. The caps are not a team that are going to get out muscled.

What the Habs need is Andrei Markov back. He was soooooo damn good at shutting Ovechkin down.

You guys definitely had the goaltending, he kept you in the game until the Caps went stupid in the third. You'll need that all series to stand a chance for sure.

Ovy is listed at 6'2 238 lbs. He ran over 5'8 175 lbs of Caulfield and there was no chance that 5'9 162 lbs of Hutson was going to do anything about moving him once Ovy got to the front of the net on the GWG. If those weights are accurate, the man is 63 lbs and 72 lbs heavier than 2 of the Habs best players.

He's a Right shot who plays LW, so it's the RHD that will mostly defend him. That's who on the Habs? Guhle who slides over to that side, Carrier, Savard? Which forward is defensively responsible enough and big enough to help and battle him down low?

My shins hurt just thinking about Hal Gill and Markov from that 2010 series.

(Forgot Hamrlik and Gorges were also on that blue line, 2 more guys that were tough to move and not afraid to eat a puck.)

Having not seen much of the Habs this year ...

Monty is a stud.

Puck absorber.
Overall he's good. Mid of the pack goalie.
I think sometimes he will have some concentration issues were he let in 2 goals back to back, or early/end of periods sometimes.
Rarely makes highlight reel / atheltci saves but is positionnally sound most of the time.

He could lose a few more teeth

Honestly, I don't see why the Habs need Xhekaj, at least not yet. Montreal adapted well to Washington's physicality, played a dominant 3rd period and made the game as close as it gets. Why play Washington's game when Montreal's own game matched up well against the Caps?

If the Habs lose game 2 convincingly by being outmuscled, okay, I can see Xhekaj giving them a shot in the arm. We're not there yet.

Good luck with that, I'd be interested if you could find me a clip of anyone putting a decent hit on Ovie. He and Chara used to have some epic battles, but other than Big Z, people just bounce off, may as well try hitting the zamboni.
The Kadri cheap shot was on the knee, so it wasn't really a hit.
