He looks very much like young Panarin. I said this 2 years ago, and it's still the thing. Of course it doesn't mean he'll become as good as Panarin, but he looks promising.

Quick filters on EP for the best U22 seasons by PPG. Right now, if you remove the single game outliers, he seems to be on pace for the 2nd best PPG season of all time? Dunno if I am missing something here but that seems pretty good!

You never know how it will play out but sure he looks like a top 6 player in short future

Well over a decade for most of them. That organization was completely empty when Yzerman took over. Now they’re as loaded as anyone with NHL talent.

Y is doing things the right way. Drafting and cultivating talent, and not making bad trades/long term FA signings to try and fast forward the rebuild. I'm fine with another losing season or two to see how this plays out a few years down the road.

I don't see him coming over to sit in GR, but if Yzerman is willing to give him an NHL spot, I wouldn't be surprised to see him make the jump next year.

Now as for where he'll end up long term, I'm still a bit concerned with how small he is and thus how his game translates to the NHL. The guy has a ton of skill but from the photos I saw over the summer would be lucky to be the 5'10 he's listed at.

He has great IQ and shot, his skating doesn't suck either so his size doesn't matter. I mean Kane played like 5'6 kid and still earned the place in HoF...

I'm not saying he won't make it but I'd like to see him on US size ice against NHLers before declaring him the Wings next top 6 Russian stalwart. For every Patrick Kane there are 50 guys his size that never sniff the NHL. You have to be of a Patrick Kane offensive output level to make it long in the NHL and be a perimeter guy in this day and age. (not saying Buch will be that type of player)

I have good feelings about Buch because of his IQ, skating and shooting, but I did not realize how small he was until seeing those summer photos where he was standing next to other Wings prospects. I will be curious to see how his board game stocks up in camp next season. He may have that stocky build/ excellent strength to play at that size ala Datsyuk,

The year was added to his contract after the trade and having to sign a new contract. Which is customary and normal for the KHL, as it’s much more like European soccer how they do contracts, after a move/trade. That extra year allowed him to make more money THIS season mostly, but also next IF he didn’t think he was ready to make the move to NA.

There’s a reason he came to Detroit this past summer and met with the Wings, as they discussed how he would come over. So nobody should be surprised if his final year is voided and he’s in Detroit this Spring, burning an ELC year.

Sorry for the sidetrack but I can't help myself. Can you imagine the Yzerman threads on the main board if Emmit F. Finnie were to ever "hit."

I think it would be just as enjoyable as SFY's day with the (won't say it -no jinx), if he actually pulls this whole thing off.
